It smells like a mixture of strong cigarette smoke and strong black coffee. After that I found that the smell became less intense. I purchased it to help with some thin areas around the front edges of my hair line. Most of the reviews that I read prior to my purchase were good with the exception of them mentioning the not so pleasant smell. So I decided to give it a try, and I am so glad that I did because since the first time I applied it to my hair and scalp, I have noticed significant growth as well as thickness around the edges of my hair line. Although the price is a little costly,the product contrainer is a nice size for the price so I was pleased with that. The product straight from the container has a thick consistency but melts and absorbs quickly, so a little will go a long way.
