ASARotating Flight Navigation Plotter (Lexan) - Aviation

This is MUCH easier to use than the non-rotating plotter. Spinning the wheel while on a chart is sometimes a little difficult to get it moving, but lining this up to the lat/long lines is way easier to get a good reading than non-spinning type. It is clear Lexan plastic, fairly durable. You MUST have one of these to pass the PPL Knowledge Exam!

I bought this plotter as a Christmas present for my husband. He has used it for two months now. Here are some highlights that he mentioned. The plastic is rigid enough to maintain its shape, but not so rigid that it will crack with age like his old one. The rotating course direction bezel makes the plotter much easier to use while in flight. His old one doesn't have a rotating bezel. The plotter looks exactly like the picture. Rotating bezel simplifies measuring true course. The added width and better resolution on plotter edge scales make it more useful for measuring geographic points to start a descent. He has found it to be very useful on his recent flights.

I'd wanna give this 4.5 stars because I'm a perfectionist, but seeing as I can't I'm not going to take a star away from anyone here.It does what it is supposed to do. It's easy to use. It seems durable enough to me. It was delivered promptly.Why did I want to take half a star away? Well, I think I could have done with the rotating disc being just that little bit bigger so that it could line up with the lines of longitude perfectly. Occasionally I've been plotting courses and found the arrow lines aren't quite as close to the lines of longitude as they could be if the disc was bigger. However, it's minor, you just need to eyeball it a little but I do like things to be perfect.

This works very well for me. It is very clear, the protractor pivots nicely and stays put pretty well. Pretty flexible. Only complaint is taking the FAA tests, the scales never seem to be correct except on sectionals. Hence, I had to do a little math/scaling on my own when studying for the test using a computer. I'd purchase it again.
