Gorgeous colors and pattern. The gunmetal is my favorite. I'm 5'9", 155-160lbs, somewhat hourglass shape while being a little smaller on top. Measurements about 37"x29"x41". It fits me very nicely - full length and full closure, although when I walk it comes open at the legs (as I would expect). I'd say if you have obviously larger hips, the robe may come open very obviously at the legs if you're moving around (and certainly if you sit). Smaller hips and legs won't have that issue (and for those of us with wider hips it's not necessarily an "issue"). The sleeves are about 3/4 length, so I believe they're meant to land above the wrist, which is great if you're wearing this while applying makeup or doing your hair or doing anything else with your hands :) I think this robe would fit a variety of shapes and sized nicely; the only issue might be that it could be too long for someone maybe under 5'3" or so - just a guess. The fabric is delicate - I'd be careful not to snag it on anything sharp or pointed. I would recommend hand washing it very gently with no friction, and hang drying it. It has an inside tie (two smaller strings of material to cinch the robe closed on the inside) as well as external loops with a loose ribbon for an outside tie at the waist. This keeps it closed and secure while being figure flattering.

This robe is gorgeous! I was pleasantly suprised when I recieved this in the mail, it looks EXACTLY like the photo just needs a little ironing (be gentle and do it at a lower heat to be safe) and I loved the beautiful navy color. The fabric on the outside is a pretty silky material and its less shiny on the inside its very comfortable and not too warm even on a hot summer day. I bought this robe to wear as I got ready on my wedding day and was perfect. I am 5'7" and the robe falls to my ankles and I really liked that so I don't trip on it while going up stairs and such. I weigh about 175 and normally wear size Medium on top and Large on bottom and it worked great for me, not sure how it would work for bigger girls (might be a lil more open in the front) I have had this robe for almost three months and wear it nearly everyday in the morning and it looks the same as when I got it! I've washed it once on the gentle cycle and it handled that fine. I seriously recomend this robe it's well worth its price and looks way fancier than it cost! It's perfect for someone who wants a more modest robe that wont flash anybody when bending over slightly, like most short robes do.

So. First off before i buy i read reviews. I put this fit as expected because with my bigger stomach i expected it not to close well in that area. And it doesnt. It closes but if not wearing anything under than itll show all waist down. So on that note. It is beautifully made, love the color. Very deep purple just like i was hoping for. Soft and light, perfect for florida. The sleeves are a little shorter than i had hoped. But i wasnt paying much attention to them when reviewing. They are about three quarter sleeves. I am 5"4' approximately and it goes to just above my ankles. Which i prefer. So very happy with the length. I am around 215 lbs with a baby pouch (some mammas will understand) my baby pouch is the trouble part for a lot of clothes and jackets and such. So i knew its wouldnt be a perfect fit. But i can tie it well. Closes entirly up top. Just opens a little after belly. When able ill post a picture to better help understanding. i love it. And would probably buy im more colors. Very beautiful and totally worth it.

This robe is quite nice, especially for the low price. The fabric is very soft (but not silk) and the pattern bold without being gawdy. The seams are well done and overall the quality is good. I'm 5'-7" at 170 lbs and it fits me well in length and girth. The front flap of the robe wraps to about my hip bone where I can tie it and there is an internal tie to keep it from coming completely open. I've washed it twice now, on gentle within a garment back in a front-load washer, and it has fared well. Doesn't wrinkle after line drying either. My one complaint is that I wish it had an extra method for securing the front flap for times when I don't care to flash people (like neighbors, delivery people, etc.) The fabric is very slippery so even with the belt tied, the front flap inevitably shifts so the gap at the chest and legs widens. If there were an extra means of securing the outer edge of the robe, that would prevent this from happening. I'd love it if the Old Shanghai considered this for future improvements to their product line. Otherwise, this is a fantastic robe for either special occasions or just hanging around the house. I'm a very tactile person so the silky feeling lends a romantic feel which makes me feel more womanly than my usual grubby PJ bottom and t-shirt.

I have several Old Shanghai robes and they are beautiful and well worth whatever you pay for them and far more than we actually paid for them! The seams are double-stitched and the package arrives with the belt separate so you can easily find it. The length is perfect and I love the inside tie closure with helps to keep it closed when you have company and want to be a little more discreet. I got the black and I wish that the birds were red rather than pink because I am not such a pink girl, but it is absolutely stunning. I have friends that visit me and think that I paid 5 X the price. I also liked that it arrived two days after I ordered it, so it was not something I had to wait forever to get. The quality is really there, and don't worry about it being too thin and see through because it is not. The colors are also very vibrant. I own one in the turquoise and it is probably the most beautiful color of turquoise I have ever seen. I get so many compliments on it that I'm thinking of ordering another one in the turquoise but the longer length.

This is my second Kim + Ono robe, and my first one in the polyester charmeuse material. While the polyester charmeuse is not as smooth and soft on the interior as the 100% silk Kim + Ono robes, it is equally as gorgeous and stunning, with the color perfectly matching the stock photo (much to my relief after reviewing all the customer photos with the poor lighting or overexposed flash). Plus the polyester charmeuse comes with the added benefit of being machine washable, which is especially relevant in the era of coronavirus. This kimono meets my high standards for sartorial excellence. I normally wear luxury designers (Theory, Elie Tahari, Giorgio Armani, Carolina Herrera, Veronica Beard, Mugler) for my everyday, and even I was impressed by the quality of this design. My only complaints: (1) I dislike the location of the belt loops for the sash, so I actually wear the sash higher without using the belt loops. (2) I dislike the location of the draw strings which distorts the drape of the kimono. These are very minor issues though that I can easily fix.

August 2021: I’m still wearing my original pink robe from Old Shanghai, but I’ve purchased a replacement for next summer. Although the original is still in reasonably good condition, I think this will be its last summer of use. Excellent lifespan - I’ve worn this robe daily and washed it at least weekly about half of every year (all spring & summer & into early fall) since it was purchased in June 2015! And every one I’ve given as a gift has been a big hit because they look great on all body types. EDIT AGAIN, 16 May 2017: After contacting Old Shanghai directly, it seems when I clicked “Buy it Again”, then went to change the color, I was inexplicably shifted to another seller called Tigoof Online, and I inadvertantly ordered from them instead of Old Shanghai. For the better quality robe DO NOT ORDER FROM ANYONE EXCEPT 'OLD SHANGHAI'! After they realized what had happened, Old Shanghai sent a replacement robe free of charge, which is very lovely and to the standard I originally expected. I'm attaching photos to show the difference in the products. First is a side-by-side with Old Shanghai hanging on the right, and you can see even the Old Shanghai colors are softer, more elegant, while the Tigoof Online colors are harsher and cheap looking. Photos 2&3 and then 4&5 show some finishing details of the Tigoof Online vs Old Shanghai robes, and 6&7 are photos of the labels of each brand. I changed my rating back to 5 stars because of the excellent customer service of Old Shanghai. Edit 28 March 2017: I ordered another in black as a gift, and I'M VERY DISAPPOINTED. It is 4 inches shorter, the sleeves are a few inches shorter, and it has no interior ties - so how are you supposed to keep it closed while wearing it? It's marked as an XXXL, and does not have the Old Shanghai label, when ALL the others I've purchased are "one size fits most" and do have their label. Did they run out and go around the corner and buy an XXXL child's robe??? Changing my 5 star rating to a 1 star because of this. I needed it before a planned trip, and of course I can return it, but before replacing it I want to be certain I'm getting the correct robe, and Amazon has been NO help so far. Edit: February 2017: This robe has held up very well, and I continue to be impressed. I've ordered others as gifts and they have always been a hit. My 83 year old mother is the type of person who has always cared about her appearance and always dresses well. I purchased two for her, a long and a short version in different colors, for a recent hospital stay, and she loves them both. Both of my sisters have these now, and also love them. In my original review I mentioned ironing out the packing creases when it was new, and hoping I'd never need to iron it again. Sure enough, nearly two years later that is still the only time I've ironed it. Once those creases were dealt with, its been machine washed and dried (on cold water and gentle cycle) many times, and I've pulled it out of the dryer and it looks great. Easy care, in addition to being beautiful. I wear this every day during spring and summer, and yet for now I see no reason to replace it as it still looks great - in a year or two maybe it will be worn enough. A bargain for sure. :-) June 17, 2015: I LOVE this robe! I was looking for a very light summer robe, and this is just so perfect. I have a son and a stepson who are both grown men and are around all the time. I like to shower and change for bed early in the evening and then relax for the rest of the evening with family. Winter robes are easy but I needed a robe with complete coverage that wouldn't be uncomfortable in summer. This is it. This robe is so pretty; the colors are beautiful. I ordered the pink and it's a very soft, flattering color. This robe is so light I'd describe it as "gossamer", but the fabric isn't sheer - it provides total coverage. It looks like silk, but is EASY CARE! When I received it I washed it in cold water and dried it on low. It still had marks from being folded during shipping so I turned in inside out and ironed it on a medium setting to remove those few creases. Since it held those creases so well, now that I've ironed them out I don't expect to ever need to iron it again. For length, I am 5'6" and it comes to the top of my feet - almost to the floor. I am of normal weight for my height and it fits generously, folds and flows perfectly. I'll be ordering more of these, they're available in so many pretty colors and they are just so beautiful! These would be great gifts, too.

I definitely won't end up returning it but there are just a few things that I think could be improved. 1. I wish there was a sizing option instead of a one size fits all... I'm pretty short and petite and I'm swimming in it a little. 2. The inside material isn't the most comfortable. I wouldn't go as far as to call it scratchy but it's not as slick and soft as the outside for sure! 3. We are getting into the dry winter months and this thing clings to my legs in the most annoying way! Hopefully during the more humid summer months (when I plan to wear this robe the most) that won't be as big of a problem, because there is nothing more annoying than your robe clinging to your legs with static! Here are the reasons I will be keeping it... 1. It's GORGEOUS! I order the Mauve color and I literally gasped when I saw it in person. 2. For a silk robe it stays tied in place fairly well, much better than my favorite jersey cotton robe. 3. It has enormous pockets that are super discreet. 4. It's very light! We live in a very hot and dry place and my other robes are just too hot to wear some months... This robe will solve that problem I think.
