Athens Foods Tyropita (Tiropita) are just fantastic. They taste just like the tiropita my mother used to make, but with none of the pain involved in cooking them. I've been looking for this particular brand for several years and am SO glad I can now get them on Amazon.They are well worth the price, even the steep price for shipping--which is necessitated by the fact that they have to packaged in a LARGE styrofoam cooler with dry ice to prevent thawing in transit and then shipped via 2 day shipping.The package recommends cooking in the tin foil tray they came in, but I find they cook more evenly (and a lot quicker) if broken apart and placed directly on a baking sheet. Any way you do it, these are so tasty I have been known to eat 6 - 8 of them as a meal in their own right.

I first tried Athens Three Cheese Blend Fillo Triangle Tyropita years ago and loved them immediately. The phyllo dough is light and flaky while the three cheese blend is mild but flavorful. This is as perfect as a frozen dish can be.These Tyropitas make an excellent appetizer for parties, but are also quite nice as a light dinner with a side salad. They heat in their own tray and can be served as soon as they come out of the oven as long as you are careful of the hot filling.I have tried some other brands' attempts at frozen tyropita dishes, but they haven't been near as good as the Athens product is.I used to buy them at the local Harris Teeter grocery stores, but they stopped carrying them sometime in the last year. Customer service issues have made special ordering them through Kroger and Publix challenging. I dearly hope that Amazon restocks these soon, as I will be eager to place an order.
