The point of failure is with the funnels and stirring rod you will use since these break more often. Okay that's not really a 'catch' like in my headline. More like a note. And the funnels are sold separately so I'm not sure I need to mention it. But here we are. The glass beakers and cylinders are quite thick, and have performed well in different experiments and while mixing highly caustic solutions. You will want to use a retort stand (beaker support support stand) with a decently weighted base to minimize the possibility of accidents. Heat resistsance and heat transfer is within the normal range of borosilicate and the graduations are easy to read. I use the 'patch' of white on the side to note information I dont want to forget in the process of an experiment or while distilling a solution. Grease pencil a.k.a China marker works well and I've never had a problem with it melting away while heating. Since it is relatively affordable and durable (for glass anyway), I can recommend the Feekoon 10 piece set to both the home amateur, professional, or parents who are throwing a science-experiment themed birthday party.
