Keep them coming Victoria!
Thank you to Netgalley and Bookouture for the ARC of The First One to Die by Victoria Jenkins. What a fab follow up to The Girls in the Water. P.s how stunning is that cover!! 😍😍 The story follows four house mates sharing a flat, one turns up dead - did she fall or was she pushed off the balcony? What follows is a brilliant story with twists and turns that keep you hooked! The ending was fabulous!! I love Victoria Jenkins, her writing style is enthralling and her short snappy chapters keep you on the edge of your seat wanting more! I look forward to the future of King & Lane!!

Page turning crime thriller
I started this book immediately after I’d finished book in this series . (The Girls in the Water ). Having loved the first book I was slightly nervous that this one wouldn’t live up to my expectations. Well how wrong was I ! This was another gripping crime thriller involving DI King and DC Lane . These two officers work so well together and I love the way their personal lives develop in this book.I am eagerly awaiting book 3 in this brilliant series .

The first one to die .
Found the beginning a little slow , however as I read further on l couldn't put the book down . Ending a bit disappointing but maybe a particular character will return in another book.

Victoria proves her first success was no one-hit wonder.
If you are a crime genre fan, you will enjoy this engaging second novel from Victoria Jenkins. In “The First One To Die” she demonstrates that she is able to spin a fine yarn, while further developing her main characters, Detectives King and Lane, both through and independently of a plot that keeps you on the edge of your seat from first to last paragraph. Very deft, very assured, very accessible, and immensely promising as a future contender for “Queen of Crime”.
