It creates a decent lather with my body wash and let's me use a little less. I use Aveeno body wash, which is pretty thick and creates a really thick lather on its own, so I didn't have any issues working up some suds. This scrubby doesn't create quite as voluminous a lather as the loofah did, but prefer it. The loofah would create such a thick lather that it took me too long to rinse the poof clean, wasting water. This body brush rinses quickly and cleanly, reducing the amount of water used while making for a more hygienic tool. I liked the handle just fine. You can easily slip your fingers around the stem of the handle or even grab the top of it like a knob if you're in a hurry. The stem is firm/stiff enough that it won't flop around as you work with it. One thing to keep in mind is that this is a very gentle tool. The bristles are really soft and great for sensitive skin.
