Why can’t I just get three short bits?

There are other mush larger sets out there. These three bits are simply a basic collection.

Will the long bits fit the Wave and allow it to close?

No. You'd have to take it out to close

can this be use ( lock into place) in the leatherman surge??

You can not close the surge with the long bits in place. They are too long

I purchased these bits to use in my leatherman wave mt. The bit kit / bits that come with the wave do not give much reach. The two most commonly used bits (for me) are the phillips and flat drivers so this kit worked out great. Also this is the only way Ive found to replace the "standard" bits that come with your wave.
