Rodent - Semi-Enclosed Exercise Wodent Wheel 'Wobust' 12" Blue

Despite my horrible experience with Small Joys, and that my rats won't use this or any wheel, I'm still giving the product itself a good review because the PRODUCT deserves a good review. This is a very well made, safe wheel. It is easy to put together and disassemble for cleaning. It doesn't make a lot of noise, hardly any at all. I spun it myself to see how much noise it would make if my rats used it. The stand of this wheel is heavy and made in such a way that it will not easily be overturned. I believe this wheel would get many, many uses and definitely worth spending more money to get it. It's not designed to be mounted to the cage. With a bit of creativity, it can be done though. I mounted mine to the side and from the top of the cage using zip ties. This is a VERY LARGE wheel. If you need a large wheel for your pet, hopefully you also have a large cage. It would not fit into my old cage. Even in a Double Critter Nation, it takes up a significant amount of space. But if your animals will use it, it's definitely worth putting inside the cage. For a small pet that will actually use it, this is a very good choice. ***************************************************SELLER ALERT********************************************* If you buy the Wodent Wheel, just DON'T buy it from Small Joys. Mine was sold as new, but was in fact used and damaged. I made a note of the used condition in my seller review. Small Joys didn't respond to my seller review for 3 weeks. When she did, she argued with me about the condition of the wheel, giving many contradictory reasons explaining that it couldn't possibly be used. It was clearly used by a small pet. It also had a number a scratches obviously NOT made by an animal on the front and back surfaces of the wheel. The scratches look like ones resulting from careless handling, like bumping it hard against something or having heavy items laying on top of the wheel. It was dirty and had numerous finger prints on every surface. Although it was actually used, the price was very low would have been fair for what I got. I made it very clear to her that I wasn't looking for any compensation of any sort. I am keeping it because one day, my rats may decide that they want to use it, or a future might like it. Small Joys has terrible customer service and apparently believes that she is incapable of making mistakes. If I could change my review of Small Joys, I would give 1 star instead of 3.

Follow up: 10/16 this wheel in two months has been completely chewed up :( the wheel is now broken. Sad sad sad bc they LOVED it. I got this larger size for my chinchillas this week. Shipping was slow. But it eventually came in 11 days. I am just used to amazon prime i guess. This is a very affordable wheel (compared to metal saucers out there that are outrageously priced). This is also quite a safe exercise wheel for chinchillas. Chinnies are very fragile and cannot have mesh wheels where their little feet get caught. It is a nice sturdy wheel solidly built etc.. My one chinnie, (the more adventurous one) took to it the very day i got it and hasn't stopped running on it. She goes VERY FAST on it. My other chinchilla is a bit more reserved and I haven't seen him get on it yet. But he takes time to get used to new items in the cage. This wheel is relatively quiet. Except you hear their little turds clicking about in it as it turns ;-)...and it gets the whole cage shaking when she's going really fast. I am not giving it a full 5 stars because of the following reasons: 1. The wheel does not attach to the cage. It stands freely on a stand and while running on it, the entire wheel will move across the tray in your cage. It moves several inches. I have since placed their heavy little "chinchiller" granite slab right in front of the metal stand, and it hasn't shifted since. However when chinchillas get going at full speeds on this thing...and I mean THEY ARE FAST! The whole cage gets a rocking and its kinda funny. You may want to take it out if your cage is in your bedroom and you need to sleep. 2. the majority of this wheel is plastic...which is OK, but my chinnies have already nibbled on the plastic around the hole openings. I wish there was a reinforced harder surface around the holes that were chew resistant. But I don't foresee that being a HUGE problem, it just starts to look kinda shabby after awhile.

the rats love it but damm is it noisy.. specially at night when they are most active.

I have mixed opinions on this wheel but my hedgehog loves it. Likes: - More quiet than other wheels. This wheel is not silent. I have also bought my hedgie a comfort wheel and the 12 inch flying saucer also. - More sturdy than the flying saucer. I bought three flying saucers and they lasted two months, four weeks, and 5 days respectively. My hedgehog weighs less than a pound so. I can't imagine how much more easily the flying saucers would break with a larger animal. The comfort wheel is more durable than the flying saucer but my hedgehog grew too big for her 8 inch wheel. I also broke the comfort wheel while trying to take it off its stand (that was my fault though). - My hedgehog doesn't fall off/out of the wodent like she did the other wheels. - My hedgehog wasted no time getting in it the first time I put it in her cage. She wasn't hesitant with the other wheels either though. Dislikes: - Not overly attractive wheel but this doesn't really matter I guess. I am not a big fan of stickers on wheel front. Some of These kind of dissolve in water after a few cleanings and leave some residue. - Doesn't fit through cage door so I have to take wire portion off my cage to get it in and out of there. My flying saucer which was 12 inches would fit through door with a little work. I have a 30 inch by 18 inch cage. - Wheel seems too expensive but if it lasts the time others say theirs has lasted it will be cheaper in the long run. Basically this wheel is the same price as three flying saucers. - Other reviewers say it is easy to clean but I don't agree. I guess this is relative to what you are used to. The other wheels were much easier to clean in my opinion. I don't mind cleaning her or anything else in her cage but I kind of dread cleaning this wheel. Hedgehogs love to potty while they run so it has to be done often. :/. The wheel has tiny intentions in it that the feces often dries in which makes those areas tougher to clean. The other wheels also had indentions but were not as tiny making feces come off with far less effort. Its not rocket science to take it apart and put it back together. Taking it apart, scrubbing it, and reassembling it takes more time/effort than throwing a different wheel (that doesn't come apart) into some bleach/soap water. - I have read reviews after buying of course that say since hedgehogs like to look out while they run, this might cause an injury. I have noticed that she does like to look out while running and I am hoping that this won't cause her an injury. The other wheels she would fall out of so I think there is less opportunity here for injury. Update: -7/19/14 My hedgehog loves this wheel more than anything!!!! She spends hours and hours and even more hours running in it (much much longer than she did in other wheels). She even loves to sit in it sometimes and will run to it when you try and pick her up if she isn't in it already. She feels secure in it bc she doesn't stop running when I come in and turn on lights. In the other wheel types, she would get out and run to her towel. Three people in my family have mentioned that she seems to like this wheel better than her other wheels (not just my observation). I am glad I bought this even though it's more work to clean than other wheels. It's worth the trouble if your pet likes it. I would recommend you get some baby oil (doesn't take much) and dab the appropriate parts every time you clean it. This will keep noise down and keep it from rusting.

Its amazing the difference a wheel can do in your pets life. My hedgehog loves this wheel more than anything Ive ever bought for it. Hes exercising almost all night and i have to clean the wheel daily from the constant use. The product is very sturdy, well built and pet friendly (no sharp edges or parts your pet might get injured with). It is very silent but still makes somewhat of a noise, nothing you cant live with though. It is easy to clean and strip into parts and its doesn't seem to be made of cheap products. In conclusion I have to say it was a great purchase, you get what u pay for and your pet will love you for it.

The Wodent Wheel really helped out my chinchillas and my pocket book. The chinchillas had been breaking their previous wheels at a prodigious rate, but the wodent wheel doesn't have room for them to take flying leaps into the wheel. Instead, they need to squeeze in, which being rodents, they greatly enjoy. They use it a lot, and by fastening it to the edge of the wire cage with some wire, it doesn't bounce around the cage and fall over. My only complaint is one of my pets' favorite things: if they're in it, I can't grab them at all. When I open the cage to hang out with them, I can be sure one of them will sprint straight into their favorite wheel!
