UPDATED: Dazzling paints! And great customer service too~
UPDATE: I contacted Finetec about the problem and they handled it INCREDIBLY well. Not only did they send a replacement for the paint set that had bubbles in it, but they sent me another complimentary set plus some bonus colors to make up for it just that much more! I've updated my rating to give stars, to reflect the quality of paints themselves and the willingness of Finetec to rectify production errors~ Old Review: These paints are great quality. The colors are beautiful and shiny, absolutely outstanding. But there's a big problem with the palette I received: some of the cakes in my set have a big bubble in them. It doesn't seem present in all the cakes, but then again I haven't used all of them equally. I tested each color and did a little lettering with each. After letting water sit on them a while I stirred the surface so I could letter with them and the champagne silver ended up with a hole in it. No matter who you are, a mere half hour of lettering won't blow through to the bottom of the pan of your paint. After letting them dry a little, the paints were still pliable. To my surprise, I was able to press down onto some of the paints and into what seemed to be a pocket of nothing, almost as though there was a manufacturing error that resulted in an air bubble inside my paint. This occurred in four of the colors from what I can tell, those being the Bronze, the Champagne Silver, and the two yellow gold colors in between them. I was quite disappointed at this, as these weren't particularity cheap for me and I'm ending up with a lot less paint than I paid for. I've included a photo of the set after my brief usage of the paints where you can see the noticeable dips in each color I mentioned above. In short, these paints are great. The quality is good and the colors are dazzling, but for the price I paid and the amount I'm getting out of it, I wouldn't deem it worth the gamble. I'm serious about my art supplies, so this occurrence was a big letdown. I'll update my rating if I can get this fixed, but until then this is my score.

Sparkle and Shine
This paint is quite beautiful, of a good quality, and it can be used for subtle effects or layered to get a more solid, foil-like appearance. It flows nicely on the paper and seems to work well with my other watercolors. So far, I've used ot to add some discreet gold color to paintings of autumn aspen trees, and also to make a deep gold background for a single aspen leaf. Both came out looking classy. I find it especially attractive on a rougher, more highly textured watercolor paper. People at my gallery like the paintings I've made using it, and have been asking what I used. I do wish that in place of one of the similar looking gold colors, there were more of a coppery color, instead, just to add some variety to the set. I'm looking forward t trying it out on dark colored paper and also mixing with other paints to get certain colors and effects. Once I've found time to try that, I may come back and add more detail to my thoughts on its uses.

Gorgeous metallic pigments that flow beautifully.
I love Coliro gold and silver metallic watercolor paints. The rich, metallic pigments range from silver through both warm and cool gold tones with a smooth, creamy consistency that is a delight to paint with and that layers easily. They especially stand out well on darker paper and pop beautifully when contrasting other rich, deep watercolor hues. They also mix well with regular watercolors to create metallic pigments in a wide variety of different colors, making them incredibly versatile. They're wonderful when used alongside metallic leaf in the same painting, too. As a side note, to ensure these paints flow as desired, spray them with water or place several drops of water into each well and allow them to sit for several minutes before use. This softens the paint first and improves how well they flow across the paper. I love Coliro metallic watercolors and highly recommend them to other artists and illustrators, as well as hand-letterers looking to add a nice metallic pop to their lettering work. They're wonderful!

Best Metallic Paint I have!!
I am a watercolor artist, and in the fall, I make Holiday/Christmas cards, which I sell at 3 galleries. These paints are a game-changer! SO much better than my formerly-favorite brand of expensive gold metallic watercolor paint, (which I will refrain from calling out.). The shine is so much brighter, and I love all the different shades of gold. They are perfect for just adding a slight “bling” to a card, and especially fine for outlining the picture before I attach it to the actual card…makes a nice shiny border. Best purchase and a good value!

WORTH. EVERY. PENNY.
Yeah, these are expensive. Yeah, they’re almost 3 times of the price of the Kuretake brand gold 6 Pan watercolors. But if you’re serious about your metallics, these are the best out there and nothing even comes close. I have both these and the Kuretake, and I also have a metallic set by Schmincke, as well as a cheaper company called Mozart. I have also tried making my own metallics with Pearlex powder pigments (NOT worth the trouble). I am an avid painter and I paint every day. I have tried a wide range of metallics as metallic accents are extremely important to my style of painting. And please believe me when I say that nothing, NOTHING on the market compares to these in terms of opacity, creaminess, shine and shade range. This company knows what they’re doing, and they’re doing it perfectly. I am in love with how every painting turns out, accented with these metallics. In fact, I believe they give my paintings a gold-leaf look - something that is otherwise extremely messy/ delicate to achieve. These paints are best used with a small brush for acrylic paints. They can be applied on almost any surface. And the consistency can be well controlled by how much water you add. The issue with the Kuretake paints is that, even though they look similar to finetec on the painting, the paints wear down quickly. Finetec lasts forever. You can feel how densely packed each cake is by how long it takes to activate. In the time it took me to use up an entire rectangular pan of Kuretake, I’ve only barely made a dent in a cake of Finetec. So if you’re someone who uses up your paints, it’s actually more economical to get Finetec. No I’m not sponsored by Finetec , just someone who has looked for the perfect paint for a decade and finally found it. Plus, if you are an instagram artist (follow me btw at butterletters), the Finetec palettes are beautiful to photograph next to your art and calligraphy. I never want to include my awkward rectangular Kuretake palette in my photos. But the round, silky, delicious Finetec paints add something so satisfying to my Instagram photos. So there’s that to consider haha! Anyway, I can’t rave enough about these! Time to go paint some more!

I love this paint
Honestly, the title says it all-- I love this paint. Almost every color is stunning and easy to use. I add a little water about a minute or so before I intend to use it (as per instructions on the box) and then add a wee bit more when I'm prepping my brush. The paint goes on solid and cleans up easily afterward. The only reason I gave this four stars and only love 'almost' every color, is that I have had consistent trouble with the Stirling Silver. It takes 3-5 coats to be solid for me and I found myself simply swapping back to acrylic for those sections. So far this has lasted through six paintings and the pans barely look touched (except for the Inca Gold which might be my favorite) The color differences between the golds is very subtle sometimes which made blending a couple colors very fun. Overall I'm pretty sure this was one of the best purchases I've made in a long time.

Beautiful paints!
I haven’t used all the colors yet, but the ones I have used are very nice and creamy as expected. One little thing that is also cool about these…(a You Tuber’s suggestion) don’t throw out the water. Wait a day and the gold particles will sink to the bottom. Then throw out all but the bottom inch, add a bit of clean water and use that water in other paintings for just a hint of sparkle! Kind of fun. Although I felt like they were a little pricey, they will last a long time. I doubt I’ll ever need to buy more.

Mega!
Bin sehr zufrieden!

These paints are amazing!
I was looking for an alternative to the gold foil option that I have been using for my work. This was exactly right for what I needed and was looking for. I would recommend these paints to others, even though they are quite expensive.
