A must for bird enthusiasts to brighten the window all year round. Very sturdy, colorful, and easy to look at. This makes a wonderful gift for anyone but i bought it for someone who is a shut in just to brighten their day.

I don't understand how someone could assume that metal lets light come through. It clearly states "metal", not glass. Maybe the confusion stems from the description stating "stained metal" when it should state "glazed metal" which is what this is. And it is beautiful. My hanging is double sided, meaning the birds look the same on both sides. The glaze is done very well, no bubbles or uneven surfaces, it is smooth and shiny. The entire piece feels very solid and sturdy. This does NOT look like it came from the dollar store. I believe the price to be fair for the craftsmanship which is very good. I am glad I got it and do recommend it. However, I would not expose it to the elements since I would fear that rust would corrode the glaze. Keep this indoors or under cover. Mine came with a nice chain but no suction cup. That is not a big deal for me since I never trust suction cups and always hang glass and other items from hooks. If I have to attach it higher I use fishing line which is nearly invisible and holds up perfectly well.

I foolishly thought that this item would let light through if it was hanging on a window. I was fooled by the pictures and by not reading the description which is my own fault. It is a metal and resin (?) piece which comes on a black chain and clip. It is completely opaque but looks exactly as pictured.

Definitely not stained glass. Not even translucent plastic. Wouldn't put in a window because you lose the details. Cute though
