Moodle For Dummies

This past year I decided to take the plunge and install Moodle on one of my websites. I have worked with other learning management systems before, but in the past I just haven't been able to grasp how to actually set one up from scratch. While the Moodle site is very helpful, I really do much better with a book that I can mark in, bookmark pages, etc.While I have a newer version of Moodle than what is referenced in the book, that really didn't seem to matter much. This made it so clear and easy to understand. It's a definite on my list of recommendations if you're trying to set up a Moodle site. It has allowed me to get my site live and have students!

I am implementing Moodle in my training and development practice and this book enabled me to be less dependent on the consultants and to understand some of what they were telling me.As always the Dummies guides demystified a fairly complex online computer system and made it understandable to this teacher who is sometimes a dummy when it comes to technology.The structure and level is good and the online resources that were suggested have thus far been very useful.Mr Dvorak helped me hugely in this project and I am sure that as it progresses this book will continue to be a source of information.

This book seems to assume that you already have a moodle site up and running, even though the front cover says "Learn to: Set up Moodle".So this might be helpful if you're at a college where a team of programmers has built a moodle site, and you just have to create some courses on your own.There are some particularly pointless and skippable chapters at the beginning (Ch2), perhaps there is a minimum page count the author had to deliver?If you need a laugh, the section on Moodle Myths is good.

The instructions and processes have no relation to the current version of Moodle. Waste of money.

It totally helps you out!Believe it or not but this book actually helped me out with my Moodles classes! Almost instantaneously! Now I am the noodle expert!

I purchased this book to help me figure out how to use Grademark (one of the Moodle tools.)The explanation is murky and it neglects to mention that the first step in using Grademarkis to add a discussion forum as an activity. Related topics (such as the essential Grader report)appear, illogically, in another chapter. A book for "dummies" should be a step-by-step"how-to." This one doesn't rise to that standard.

This is a great book and a good add to the beginner's library. I suggest you start your learning about Moodel with this book. Can't wait for an new release.

This book gives you a very basic understanding…much of it is outdated with newer Moodle versions now available

This book has next to nothing for students trying to get to grips with using Moodle, it's written more for teachers and people who want to start a business, I am a student whose homework is on Moodle, I want to be able to answer the questions and send it back to be marked, and I have yet to find anything that tells me how to do that, if you're going to write a for dummies book about Moodle, remember that students should be able to learn how to use the book in order to get their homework done.

Like all the Dummies books, this is detailed, accessible and useful. And like all the Dummies books, it's time they overhauled the layout / appearance of the text.

Fantastic item just what I needed!

Même si le bouquin traite d'une version très ancienne de Moodle, j'ai adoré (comme pour tous les bouquins de la collection "For Dummies") l'exhaustivité des sujets couverts par le livre ainsi que la simplicité des explications.Certainement un livre à recommander à toutes les personnes qui veulent avoir un aperçu des potentialités de Moodle, et l'application pratique des recommandations sur le plan de l'enseignement.Note: j'ai acheté le bouquin en même temps que je le lisais gratuitement sur le web où il est disponible... C'est pour dire la qualité du bouquin!!! :-)
