My favorite brand of tylose powder. It keeps long once opened, it is used to strengthen fondant.

Good for making gumpaste, not for adding to fondant
This is pretty good, it's the stuff the pros use. I made a batch of the Nicholas Lodge gumpaste, and I was surprised at how soft it was. Don't know if it was this tylose or what? I used it sparingly when I added to fondant (both homemade and store bought) and found that I needed to add more to make figures and sculpted items (like, more than Wilton GumTex) But often the outsides dried so quickly my things got wrinkly and cracks appeared. BUT, maybe if I'd mixed it into the fondant, and let it rest for hours/overnight (sealed, of course!), it might have worked better. I should be less impatient haha Tl;dr: good for gumpaste if you let it sit for a few days in the fridge, and you'll prob have to add more powdered sugar; too expensive to add liberally to homemade/store bought fondant because the results are unpredictable. I do recommend it though!

Homemade Gum Paste
first time I ever used this product due to me watching how to make homemade gum paste. The video said it will create a stiffness in your mixture and well, they were not kidding. So it works well

Great for fondant figures
I've made fondant figurines for cake toppers only a handful of times, but noticed making a round shape (for heads), it would flatten as it dried. I needed to make a cake topper for a friend's wedding and decided to try out tylose powder. As other reviewers suggested, I used about 1 teaspoon per 8 oz/half pound of fondant (for reference I used Satin Ice white). It was hardened nicely although I think if you work quickly, you can increase it to 1 1/2 - 2 teaspoons tylose per 8 oz to have it harden more quickly. Will definitely use again.
