My First Book of Hindi Words is a beautifully illustrated book that introduces young children to Hindi language and Indian culture through everyday words. Organized as an ABC rhyming book, My First Book of Hindi Words incorporates common Hindi words into charming English-language rhymes, beginning with: "A is for Akash . A sky so blue where little birds fly and big planes, too," and on through "Z is for Zukhaam . Achoo! I sneeze. I must have a cold. Mama, hug me please!" Winsome, full-color pictures illustrate each word and allow even very young readers to make their first foray into India's official language. A helpful glossary at the end makes it easy for readersโincluding parents and teachersโto review what they've learned! With the help of this book, we hope more children (and adults) will soon be a part of the 300 million people worldwide that speak Hindi! Review: Great but - Great book, great writing with rhymes , beautiful pictures. My multicultural kids learned D for dabbas. So cute. Love it. Review: Good for the little ones - My son literally tore it apart lol

Cute but... could be better
Beautiful book! But a few words are disappointing. I for Engine (Ingine - train), w for Wah (wow), and another about hail stones, which seemed a little dark and out of context to the rest of the book. My other complaint is that it still adheres to the English alphabet letters, and not the Hindi alphabet. I understand that it is a story book format, so I could look beyond that, but it isnโt what I was hoping for. The pictures are cute. My toddler is half Indian and we are trying to build up his vocabulary. But I feel like we were cheated out of a few opportunities to learn real Hindi words, and thatโs frustrating.

Beautiful book!
I love the colorful pictures and the layout with the rhymes the Hindi words written in English and Hindi letters. My 2-year-old daughter loves this book too and she's learning the Hindi words very well.

Fun but with some silly words
A fun book for kids if you want to introduce them to a bit of Indian culture and some Hindi words. A few of the words were silly, for example, I for Injen (i.e. 'engine'), way to go to confuse the English-speaking kids with their spelling with that one... particularly since it follows the Roman alphabet, not the Devanagari. Also X for Xmas, wow, I can't even bring myself to read that one. But mostly it's fun and has lovely pictures.

Disappointed my daughter
The pictures are beautiful and colourful but the word choices are poor and the methodology for transliteration flawed. My daughter was excited to see it but was disappointed when I read it to her.
