Wonderful on roasted chickpeas!
I bought a much smaller bottle of a different brand of this spice blend & paid a lot more. It was actually made in Japan & I was expecting great things. But in spite of it having the same ingredients, it was bland & flavorless in comparison to this McCormick product. This is product is delicious & I find myself reaching for it often. Highly recommended.

great combination of spices. Used on roasted carrots and parsnips
I recently had some honey glazed roasted carrots that had Japanese 7 spice on it. ( from a food truck actually at a brewery)... Liked them so much I had to get some of the spice. I have used chinese 5 spice for years which is more anise and ginger. This has more snap to it with the cayenne also. I used it on my own roasted, honey glazed carrots and parsnips. So easy and so delicious. Side note: first time I ever made roasted parsnips and I am hooked. look like white carrots but have an almost mild sweet potato/carrot cross taste to them. Since have also made creamy roasted parsnip soup.

Awesome all-purpose seasoning!
This wonderful seasoning adds so much flavor to your food that it has quickly become a staple in my kitchen. It is spicy (read as "hot") so if you are sensitive - add a small amount, taste, then add more if you want. It works beautifully on meat, in slow cooker meals, in soups, as a rub, or just to dress up refrigerator leftovers. Don't let the name "Japanese Seasoning" fool you into thinking it is only for Asian inspired foods - it is good for almost anything. What a great find! No MSG - just great taste.

Excellent seasoning mix for Japanese dishe, especially ramen
This is an excellent spice blend for seasoning Japanese dishes and other food. The only downside that I saw was that the seal on my bottle had come unsealed on one side and the very top of the bottle was dried out and caked together as a result. Definitely recommended for Japanese noodle dishes like Udon, Ramen, and Yakisoba.

This was a very pleasant surprise!
I was "shopping" around Amazon looking to see what spices might be offered. I love Chinese Five Spice which I use for much of my baking when it calls for cinnamon. When I saw Japanese Seven Spice, I thought it worth a try. Now I'm just as addicted to it. I normally do not like premade spice blends because they usually have salt, but McCormick's does not. My first venture in using it was to add some good dashes in my "Round the Kitchen" soup....I will make soups using whatever I have left over in my refrigerator. Last night I added minced fresh garlic, stir-fry beef, onions, celery, lots of fresh greens before they bad, shredded carrots, a bit of olive oil to brown the beef and onions and celery, and chicken stock. I seasoned with the Seven Spice blend, and a bit of salt-free soy sauce. Before it finished cooking, I added ramen noodles. It was terrific. For the leftovers I will add tofu since all the beef was scooped out and eaten by my husband. I have never seen it in stores or offered on the various spice company websites, so am glad that I tried it.

Enhanced taste for everything.
I find the flavor of this product is ideal for almost everything I eat. At 78 my taste buds are not what they use to be and this spice combination has brought new life to the food I enjoy.

GREAT TO HAVE IN YOUR SPICE RACK
These McCormick spices are a nice blend of flavors that give a boost to any meal that you are making. I admit that I use the Asian spice combination more than this one, but this one has a nice flavor too and definitely more heat. So if you are not a fan of spicy, this may not be for you.
