After I got these I realized the locking function can be defeated by simply loosening the strap. They look serious though. I guess that's sufficient for safe areas? But if there's a way to actually secure them from being loosened I didn't notice it. I used them for a flight through two airports and back. One being Chicago, which I fully expected to be robbed in. I wasn't. So, they at least appear to keep people out of your stuff. Or security there is much better than the rumors claim. Not sure. The locking mechanism is simple and easy to understand. Again, it is defeated by simply loosening the strap. Which is separate from the locking mechanism of unclipping and re-clipping. Maybe there was a way to set this, but as I said, I couldn't find it. Easy to use and reuse. Not particularly heavy and easy to store.
