Phalaenopsis Monterey Dark Imperial Orchid Potting Mix by rePotme (Junior Bag)

This orchid mix is the easiest to use when filling in the space between roots. The variety of shapes and sizes combine to create a supportive foundation that allows plenty of aeration and not too much water retention. In the product description there was no mention of ingredients, which I wish were listed. To me that is more important than claiming to be "hand mixed" which seems unlikely.

This is the best orchid media I have ever used. Perfect for a wide variety of orchids. Allows for sufficient drainage and aeration.

Expensive, yes. I feel this mix is a bit over priced and that is why I took off one star. But having said that, I did buy more as my phalaenopsis orchids seem to be quite happy with it. I started out with their "small/junior" bag and ended up buying the "regular" size bag as I needed more.The "small/junior" sized bag (16oz?), let me repot one six (6") inch and one five (5") inch orchid. So as you can see, that small bag won't be repotting a lot of orchids. So that is why I feel like it is a bit over priced. But I do still feel it will be worth the money.Pro's -1. Provides good aeration for my phalaenopsisroots that they really need.2. High quality of bark, lava pebbles (?), goodquality of spagnum moss, will see that mix lastslonger and won't break down as fast as cheapbrands will. This also means that I will not needto repot my orchids as much.3. Pieces of bark and "lava pebbles" are not toosmall as to quickly compact around orchidsroots which can then hold too much waterthat can lead to root rot. But you will have towater more, keep that in mind with this mix.4. This is an American made product!Con's -1. Expensive to be sure!2. As said above. This mix provides great aerationfor phalaenopsis roots, but it does not holdor "store" much water. This can be great forroots, but more frequent watering may beneeded.3. Depending on the the bag you get (as in how themix is put together at factory), you may want orneed to add some extra moss to your pots. I hadplenty in mine, but some have said they did notget enough.4. Bark pieces are bigger and that can make yourrepotting of your orchids a bit more challenging.I found that I needed to work the pieces into andaround my phalaenopsis orchids roots a bit morethan with a mix that has much smaller pieces. Ialso used plant stakes to hold orchid in a moreupright position that I wanted. Once my orchidsget more new roots, this should not be a furtherproblem at all. I had really neglected my orchids,and as a result of this, they did not have manygood roots left.So as you can see, there are good things and some not so good things with this product. At this point, I feel like this is worth my money. If I find out later it really isn't, I will updated my review.

Light and airy and doesn’t break down.

I use ALL of RepotMe orchid medium because it’s the cleanest , no dust or peat and my 14 orchids grow and bloom beautifully!It’s the best!!!

It’s a great medium for Phalenopsis

Love this stuff my plants seem to love it and I put it on the top of the dirt for my other plants and it's looks better than dirt
