TRUE PAINSTAKING DETECTIVE WORK
This was a very good read. Debbie Cenziper has brought to together all the researched into a very readable story.Often accounts like this can get bogged down in trivia and detail, and it can make the reading of it a rather laborious task, but Debbie Cenziper keeps the story bubbling and full of personal detail, and makes the facts of The Holocaust something personal and important. Time does not diminish the actions of those characters that appear in the book, and makes us not forget their actions. A very good and poignant read, but also a very sad tale which time has not diminished.

Very detailed.
I saw the author at a lecture. Her speech made me buy the book. What she describes is almost unbelievable but it is all true and documented. Excellent writing. Bolsters my belief in our sayings “never again and never forget”. A fantastic account of horrible events.

A Tale of Survival and Justice Against Overwhelming Odds
I am not much of a book reader but this one totally captivated me and held my interest from page one. The mind cannot grasp the individuality of the personal lives that were lost when reading of the six million Jews that were murdered during the Holocaust. What the author does here that is so effective is to personalize those six million by introducing us to only 2 of them and their families. We become fully invested in just these lives, their struggles for survival, their heartache, their tragedy, their story out of the millions. We are then taken inside a group brilliant professionals who have dedicated their own lives to the pursuit of justice against overwhelming odds and the tremendous challenge to find that justice.Wonderful book that didn't always have a happy ending but reinforces the hard truth that life holds no guarantees to be fair.

Brought the horrors of the holocaust alive
Although the topic covered was horrific, I could not put this book down. Very well written and engrossing. I knew the Holocaust was bad, but reading the stories of the people in this book made it come to life. I loved how the author weaved in stories from wartime and later day events. It was very well done.

Well-researched and moving account
Many have read of the atrocities committed during WWII against millions of Jews and other "undesirables." This book recounts the arduous efforts that went into finding the perpetrators of those atrocities. While (unfortunately) unable to adequately punish the men who committed such inhumane acts, a small measure of justice was achieved by trying and then removing these men from the US. Citizen 865 is the story of the courageous and valiant men and women who uncovered the facts needed to accomplish the task.
