Explorers of the Wild

Sweet and engaging!
Atkinson's boy and bear are adorable protagonists in this homage to the joys of nature and friendship. The boy and the bear start out on parallel journeys, enjoying the woods, creek, and animals near their homes. Preparation is essential for such an exploration and both bear and boy carry what they need with them. After enjoying their journey alone, they bump into each other. At first they are scared of each other, until they realize that they other is an explorer just like himself. They join forces to continue exploring and even take on a mountain. I thoroughly enjoyed the adorable illustrations here as the bear and the boy share their adventures and the beauty of nature. This book is a sweet reminder that life can be full of sweet moments and friendships, and while such moments tend to be fleeting, it's important to experience them to the fullest and keep the memories close. A book that made me smile from beginning to end.

... delightful story of two very different explorers with a love for adventure
This is a delightful story of two very different explorers with a love for adventure. I was amazed by the illustrations in this book. They are absolutely lovely. I love the quote: "No mountain is too tall if you have a friend by your side to climb it." Inspirational message that I will share as I read this book!

Absolutely Gorgeous
Since discovering Cale Atkinson's "To the Sea" (http://www.amazon.com/Sea-Cale-Atkinson/dp/148470813X) a year ago, Cale has been one of my absolute favorite author/illustrators. His latest creation, "Explorers of the Wild", hits another ball straight outta the park. The art is inspiring in its simplicity, characterization, and iconic style and the message is short and sweet, like something taken straight from my fondest childhood memories. If you have children or are simply a child at heart, buy this book immediately, curl up in a cozy blanket, and do your best to find the 30, tiny snails hidden throughout the pages. Good luck!

A favorite
We absolutely love this book at our house! My son is almost 3 and loves to play outside. The text isn’t too long for young children and the illustrations are fun! My son looks just like the boy in the book and he thinks it is him!

Great story, arrived in okay condition
This book is a great little story.Though it was sold in "good" condition, it was delivered with little protection except a bag, so it arrived bent. A little disappointed but still readable

pretty decent, kiddo should like it
great concept, story was a little lacking. I hope my kiddo gets more from it and it's all hinging on the delivery by the reader as well

Delightful book
This is a delightful picture book that compares the journey through the woods from a child's view and then also from the bear's view. Wonderful book for young children.

I've read it 8 times in 2 days.
What an eyeful! Atkinson absolutely jam-packs this book with colours and beautifully drawn illustrations with details down to the tiniest of bugs that my kids and I search for again and again. More gems, such as the cute maps on the inside covers, have my 2 and 5 year olds hiding in their rickety bedsheet forts making up adventures of their own while slowly flipping through Explorers of the Wild. We've had this book for just 2 days, and it's already a mainstay classic.
