This bowl changed the game for me. First, the size of the mug is large enough to lather enough for a 2-3 pass shave. It is convenient to store the brush bristles-down between passes, and this mug is the perfect size for that. Secondly, the handle on the size allows the user to get a firm grip on the side of the mug of lathering with the base of the mug on the table. I prefer to hold the bottom of the mug in my palm while I lather, but this is simply a personal preference. Finally, the construction and finish of the mug are of high quality. The mug is easy to rinse, dries as one would expect, and looks nice when stored. The only qualm I have with the product is the inside of the mug. Most shaving soap lather dishes are rounded at the bottom. This product has "corners," meaning that the walls of the mug make contact with the circular base at a sharp angle. Some lather gets trapped in these corners, and it takes a bit of finesse to get it all out when lathering/applying the cream. Review: Nice shaving mug - It's a nice looking shaving mug that does exactly what I need it to. I like the handle and it's deep enough that I can get a good lather going and not worry about spilling. It rinses easily and doesn't take up too much space on the counter. If you get a brush and razor stand, I recommend getting one with a little longer crosspiece. I like to put the mug under the brush after I rinse everything and my stand's crosspiece is a little too short so things sit at an angle. It all works, but I am thinking of finding a stand that fits with the mug a bit better.

Great Way to Lather

Incorrection dimensions
Let me start by saying the product it self is of good quality, easy to hold in the hand and the price is fair. I purchased the mug because of the reported dimensions (5x4x5). The dimensions are, however, incorrect. The actual dimensions are 4.5 x 3 1/8 x 4.5. The slight size difference may seem insufficient but many of the high-end shaving soaps such as Taylor of Old Bond Street which is the brand I use, are 3" and not the standard 1.75"-2". Had the product been the actual stated size of 5x4x5, I would not have returned the product.

Nice product
I bought this along with the matching soap puck. I agree with others that a soap puck is far superior to creams or gels. I won't go into that since I talked about it in the review of the soap. The bowl is nice and hefty. Doesn't feel cheap at all. I prefer ceramic to steel bowls because you can microwave the puck in the bowl for a few seconds (mine turned completely liquid) and then when it solidifies it is rock solid in the cup so you can rinse off the top when you're done without losing the soap. Looks and feels nice. I like the handle which I find convenient.

Works perfect, great shape to work a nice lather.
Very nice, great shape to whip up a nice lather. The "nub" handle makes it easy to hold when the soap makes everything a tad slick. The glaze and logo are high quality and it looks nice on the counter. It's a tad smaller inside than my soap puck, I used a cheese grater, press fit it, then put the shavings in with a touch of water and molded them in with my fingers. Took less than 5 minutes and worked great.

This is the way to go.
I recently switched from the shaving cream in the tub, to using this with a shaving soap puck. I have only been using it a couple weeks but I can tell right away that using shaving pucks lasts WAY longer than buying the tubs of cream. After some fine tuning with the amount of water in my brush I will also say that lather from a puck is better because you have more control over the consistency. The thumb handle gives you the perfect shaving grip in the shower. Nuke the puck in the cup long enough for it to drop and mold to the bottom, then let it cool (you don't have to completely melt it). It wedges in there real nice so you can rinse it out after shaving and dump the water out without losing the soap. Soak your brush then squeeze and shake about 80% of the water out. Give the brush a few slow twists on the soap to pick it up, then either whip it up in the bowl or on your face. I usually whip it up just a little in the mug to get it started, then continue lathering on may face to work it in. One nice thin layer of soap and your razor will glide. I also encourage shaving in the shower with a fogless mirror. Steam is good for shaving and it makes cleanup easy. Happy shaving!

Solid and easy to grip
I'm a first-time user when it comes to shaving brushes, cups, and pucks. I don't have anything to base my review on except comparing it to what other users have said about other shaving cups. This cup is easy to hold and made of ceramic. It's sizable so foam won't fly all over the place and will stay in the cup. Great quality.
