excellent value and definitely recommended.
Good quality book for university art course.

Very detailed
This book goes into a lot of detail and is extremely technical so would be great for someone who is very serious about drawing portraits and people. I love all the different examples in the galleries.

Good book but font used could be clearer
A really helpful book. However, I deducted a star as I do not find it an easy reading experience due to the font and colour used. The text is way too pale and very fine, making it a difficult read. Pure black on white paper would have been better. Also, on page 18 the text is superimposed on a background drawing which is very distracting. This is a shame as the content is very good.

Very instructive but difficult to read
The technical instructions. particularly the skeletal/muscular. proportions and perspective information is extremely helpful and illustrations showing the build up of steps through to the tonal studies are terrific. The only downside of the book is that the text is quite difficult to read due to the colour and size of the print. That aside this is a wonderfully instructive book and certainly inspires me to reach for the sketchpad.
