I’ve been needle felting on this for multiple hours every day for about a month and a half. Over all it’s still in decent shape but I’m starting to have to pick little black pieces out of my wool, which is frustrating. But I’ve gotten a crazy amount of use out of it for the money, and it’s more durable than I expected. Might buy it again when I need a mat.

It measures 7 3/4 by 7 3/4 and 2 inches thick. It's a good foam, dense and firm but not too firm.

I recently began felting and pretty much balked at the prices of wool felting mats, so this seemed like a good alternative-which it is if you're not sure or still exploring felting. Pros are it's relatively inexpensive and provides the poke protection and base you need. Cons are tiny bits flake off occasionally, the black can discolor lighter wool, and has a limited life span. Depending on how often you use it, it might be only a few weeks or a couple months. I bit the bullet and bought a woolbuddy large mat for around 18 bucks, which is awesome and will last far beyond the foam, and also much more environmentally friendly. Costs a wee bit more up front, but you won't need to replace it anywhere near as often.

Got this for me making my macrame keychains. I Use it to hold my project in place so i can work on it. Its a great thick foam !

Works good but there was a big empty space in the middle the made it hard to use

Felted for 2hours straight and still looks like it did when I unpackaged it
