Is this code free? does it upscale??

No you have to type the code in when you turn on the blue ray player. But if it’s the same region you don’t have to change the code or type it in all the time. Only when you want to watch something in a different region. As in the upscale it make my dvds look a little better on my tv.

I switched to region b, worked, back to a for another, worked. now can't get it to switch back to region b. any suggestions? is there a reset?

I got a disc reject and had to revert to the enclosed instructions. A unit initialize or reset didn't work. As follows: Blu-Ray Zones A + B + C DVD Regions 1,2,3,4,5,6 By default, your Blu-ray Player is set to region free for DVD. You may use the remote control to set the Blu-Ray zones to A, B or C. Remove the disc if you have one in the unit. 1. Turn ON the unit. 2. Open Disc Tray 3. Press 1 for B/R Reg A 4. Press 2 for B/R Reg B 5. Press 3 for B/E Reg C 6. The unit will power off automatically and restart. BD-Video Discs from the selected region can now be played. 7. Repeat the above sequence to play BD-Video discs from a different region.
