Ideal for sharpening axes, machetes, lawn mower blades, swords, shovels and more. One side is coarse grit, the other is medium. This pocket-size Lansky Dual-Grit, multi-purpose sharpener -- also known as "The Puck" -- is ideal for sharpening lawn mower blades, machetes, hatchets, axe blades, shovels and spades, and a variety of other cutting and chopping tools. Its easy-to-grip, contoured shape provides for safe, simple tool sharpening, and the Dual-Grit design provides a coarse side for quick cutting and shaping, and a medium side for final sharpening and finishing of your edge.

Only got one of the promised two :/
It most definitely sharpens and is a good sharpening puck, but I paid 30$ for TWO pucks and I only received ONE. I've already made a complaint but NO ONE responded. As of the moment I suggest you DONT buy this product. I am very unhappy.

I believe this is the best value for a manual sharpening stone currently available for an axe
This review is for the Lansky Sharpeners The Puck Dual Grit Multi Purpose Knife Sharpener 2 Pack. The nice part about Lansky pucks are that they have a slight taper/bevel around the outside so you can keep your fingers up and out of the way while sharpening axe heads. These are great for touching up your axe after use, but if you have really messed up the edge it's going to take a lot of sweat equity using a Lansky puck to grind it back down. The puck has two sides, one for taking off more material (coarse) and one for finishing out the edge (fine). Sharpening is a little easier if you can put the axe into a vice to hold it while you sharpen. Remember to do both sides equally if this is just a touch up. The puck is small and portable so it doesn't weigh much or take up much space in your pack or tool box. You could buy a finer finishing stone, but for chopping freesh wood - this will give you an edge up to the task. If you want to be abel to shave with your axe, well - I'd suggest getting some finer 15k & 20k Japanese wet stones to take your edge down even further.

Making wood chopping a bit easier
I needed to sharpen my axes that i use for camp activities, they had gotten dull over the years and became increasingly hard to chop wood. I decided to go with Lansky since its a brand I know of, and have used in the past for my knives. The puck is small and fits in your hand easily, stores well due to the compact size and this being a 2 pack was great way of having a spare or giving to another person to use. Puck build quality is nice, and seems like it would take a drop without a problem. All in all this the Lansky Puck is easy to use and for the money a good piece of kit that should last if treated right.

Handy sharpener to keep close.
Great size just to slip in your back pocket, does a great job sharpening, once you get the hang of it, until you do watch your fingers! Handy sharpener to keep

Files work better
Arrived damaged. The damage was minimal however something had hit the stone. The stone does not seem to sharp in the least, it only leaves some scratches.my couple metal fires seems to work much better.
