Leave a 1/2 inch gap at the bottom between the beverage and the holder bottom and then push down on the holder (not the beverage) until the suction cups adhere to the surface. The Suction Drink Holder with your beverage inserted will now stay in place until you pull up on it to remove it. It is not necessary to use the suction cups if stationary.
