I bought this flare tip propane attachment because I do a lot of gourmet cooking and a propane torch is an invaluable tool. In order to get a perfect effect on meringues or to quickly char veggies or meats a torch with a flare tip is a great shortcut, especially when one's broiler or air fryer is busy with other foods. This attachment did the job better than expected and better than some others I've used.Be careful adjusting the flow of gas so you don't have flames coming out at the point where the adapter attaches to the end of the pipe. Make sure the tip is VERY firmly attached and have a pair of sturdy pliers right at hand in case the tip comes loose or you want to switch to the plain end.Also, you'll need to work on a heat-proof surface (I used a sheet pan with trivets underneath to prevent scorching my countertop.) and have a place to safely lay the hot (and I mean HOT) tip if/when it comes off. I also had a high-heat protect glove on hand, just in case.Of course, my husband appreciates the tip for when he works with our plumbing, lol!!!

I bought this for searing steaks after cooking them in the sous vide. I used it with a 1 lb camping propane tank. I could not get the torch to light without the adapter on it. No matter how low I set the gas, it was too strong of a flow to light. The fan-type adapter worked well until you tip it on it's side to sear a steak. It then goes from a small blue flame to a bright orange fireball. Once tipped, the tank allowed liguid propane to come out and doesn't burn right. I am sending this one back for one that has a downward-facing torch end.

Was not disappointed when I fired this rig up! It really will crisp up anything that you want put a crust on. It also doubles as a heat based paint removal tool. Preheating large soldering jobs & flame working glass rod. There is good value investment wise in this tool.

My torch and spreader head were defective and dangerous. If you keep the torch tip above about 40 degrees angle all was good. Below 40 degrees angle the blue flame would instantly become an 8-9 inch ball of yellow flame. Also flared to a yellow flame ball if you move it left or right too quickly, even at 40 degree angle. Scary. Too dangerous to light it again to take a picture for this review. Impossible to sear meat unless you nail the meat to a fireproof wall.

...the searing head quit working correctly. The head started directing the flame incorrectly in the searing head causing to create a hotspot on the head and very little flame out of the front even though no holes were blocked. Trashed it looking for a better solution to sear foods---other than those overpriced butane torches.

I bought this for searing meat that I have smoked on a Traeger. Works great! Has good control for a great even sear. So fast it does not raise the meat temperature like conventional searing on a grill. 1/3 the cost of a professional searing torch.
