Fast and Reliable USB 3.0 Flash Drive
The Transcend 128GB JetFlash 790 USB 3.0 flash drive arrived well-packaged and in perfect condition. Its speed is excellent, making file transfers quick and efficient. The build quality feels solid and durable, and I haven’t encountered any issues so far. It’s compatible with both PCs and laptops, providing a reliable storage solution for everyday use. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a high-performance, trustworthy USB drive.

Fast specs & made in Taiwan (USB version confusing)
Excellent performance specs with 90 MBS read and 45 MBS write in a well made package. The slider to extend the connector moves smoothly and locks securely. I also like the fact that this flash drive is made in Taiwan by a Taiwanese firm rather than China. The only issues I have are minor and are with the ad & packaging. The Amazon ad states "Hardware Interface USB 3.0". The product packaging includes states "USB 3.1 Gen 1 flash drive". USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 are essentially the same thing and have the exact same performance specs so other than being confusing to some not an issue - just a little sloppy. The info on the product on the back of the packaging was too small to read.

Good value, nice speed and capacity
I was in need of a good USB flash drive to update my cars infotainment system, and this fit the bill perfectly. It was well priced, and provides good value for the speed and capacity. Transcend has always been a reliable brand and this product is no exception to that reputation.

Many good units so far, 1 bad one with non-functioning activity light - EASILY BENT - BE CAREFUL - Very Linux Compatible
Generally this drive would be great, but in this case the quality control is bad. The activity light is non-functional. I have other identical JetFlash 790 drives and the activity light is functional. It's probably rare. One thing to note is these drives are 3-bits per cell MLC flash memory (a.k.a. TLC ). Most in this price-range are TLC; the more bits per cell the less longevity the drive has. Again, if it wasn't for this latest arrival with a non-functioning activity light, I'd rate this drive 4.5 stars. The other issue that I'd suggest addressing is how easy it is to bend the drive. You must be careful when inserting or it will bend the metal connector inside the casing (possibly a solder joint, or where the usb metal connector is connected to the small circuit board inside). It can probably be bent back a number of times before snapping. Just be careful. The drive is fast, and a great alternative to Sandisk drives. I will buy again in the future. Works very fast in Linux whereas I've had trouble with another brand (Corsair) getting good USB 3.0 speeds. Virtually no matter what I do with Corsair drives, the drive write speed is horrible in Linux. This Transcend drive has a more compatible controller I think and is achieving the speeds mentioned on the package.

Fantastic little drive with HUGE storage!
This is my 2nd Transcend flash drive, and my 4th storage device from Transcend overall. Not one of their products has ever had an issue or error for me, even after years of abuse, so I would say that I definitely trust their products. So let me get into the pros/cons of this particular drive: PROS: -Massive storage capacity! It blows me away that 128gb can fit on a flash drive these days -Speed: Although I haven't done an official speed test, the USB 3.0 seems to transfer large (10gb+) files very fast -Physical size is very small. I was pleasantly surprised at how tiny this thing is, as it looked a bit larger in the stock photos. It's very thin, and barely longer than a standard house key. -Design: This may be more of a personal opinion, but I find the physical appearance to be very aesthetically pleasing, thin, and sleek. CONS: -Lightweight plastic construction. Although I've never had a Transcend drive break on me, I do think this one just 'feels' cheaper. -The slider is a little loose. It's not bad, but I somehow wish that there was a more definitive 'click' when you slide the USB end out or in. It simply should be sturdier. -Bright LED light. This could be a pro or con, depending on your preferences, but the blue LED indicator is quite bright. I like it, but when the lights are off and I'm watching a movie it can be a bit distracting. CONCLUSION: Although it has a few drawbacks, I think this drive is the best flash drive money can buy right now. At it's current price, it's about the same money-wise as it's competitors, but it looks a million times better. As long as the plastic material of which it's made holds up overtime, this review will remain a 5/5. Highly recommended!

GARBAGE RIGHT OUT OF THE PACKAGE!!!
I've used these flash drives for years without any issues whatsoever, but these latest ones were a problem right from the beginning. First of all neither one was recognized and I was prompted to "scan and fix" them. I did this and they were now recognized, but I couldn't write on them. So I tried reformatting them and then tried writing on them. OMG! They were plugged into a 3.1 usb port, but the transfer speeds were super slow. They were advertised as 3.1 flash drives, but the speeds were below even 2.0 standards -the transfer speeds of both flash drives never posted above 11mps. Additionally (and this is not critical to the performance, but worth mentioning anyway) neither flash drive had an led activity light. All of these flash drives that I purchased over the years came equipped with activity lights which was a nice feature. The activity light was very bright and you could glance at them from across the room and see what was going on. Now nothing. They look the same, but they are not the same. I was going to return them, but a computer whiz friend of mine wanted to take them apart and test them so I gave them to him -I also gave him one of my older ones to compare against these current versions. BTW all of the older drives still work fine after years of use -and they still light up nicely. I even have one that's been plugged into my car for a couple of years (for music) and it's still going strong. They were a great flash drive for the money, but now they're garbage.
