For the price, the quality is terrific. I'd be unhappy if I paid more than $15 or $20 for one of these. They look nice. They are very easy to install and remove. The connections to the toilet are easy to clean around. The material is dense enough to feel solid but it's not overly heavy, so no problems lifting and no slamming shut problems. Importantly, they're also comfortable to sit on.We've had two of these for over one year now. Both had the same two problems. First, the plastic cap over the right connection won't stay closed. The 'latch' stops holding and it stands up about 30 degrees above horizontal, no matter how many times it's resecured. This started only about two weeks after installation. Second, a spot about 2" long on the right side of the inner lip of the lower seat had the white paint wear off so you can see the dark wood material showing through. This happened after about two months of use by 3 people and with weekly cleaning with mild cleaner as per the care instructions. When the first seat had the plastic cap stop sticking, we didn't do anything about it. Then when the paint wore thin, I called Kohler. Their customer service person and their warranty replacement policy were both excellent. After a very fast (5-minute) and simple phone call, Kohler mailed me a new seat. Sadly, the second seat had the same two problems happen an after about the same amounts of time as the first seat!It doesn't bother us too much because the seat was so inexpensive and the warranty was so good. So, we ust live with the two minor annoyances. I'd still buy another.

I like this seat. It is comfortable and seems of good and lasting quality. It does not shift at all once attached. However, I find the plastic caps that cover the mounting screws don't stay firmly snapped down. After a use or two those plastic caps pop open and I have to press them back down. I'm sure there will come a day after all the snapping/unsnapping that they will no long hold. Doesn't effect the form or function, but its annoying and for the price I would have expected better.06/11/2014 Edit - I originally gave the product the above review and rated it 4 stars. I'm adding this edit and dropping my rating to 1 star as the product has failed in under 2 months. I have a Kohler toilet and this seat is an exact fit. After two months of use, I say down and it cracked in half. I was a bit wary initially as the seat has only two bumpers/standoffs from the bowl towards the front. The seat would flex a little during use but didn't seem like much. but it cracked completely in half cross-ways a bit past the halfway mark. It seems the lack of bumpers/standoffs toward the back meant too much flexing until in broke in half. Also, I have to admit the original annoyance of the plastic caps popping open made me grumble every time. I replaced a several year old generic plastic seat with this Kohler one. I admit it was more comfy but the hight cost, annoying, caps and snapping in half in 2 months makes me wish I kept the old cheap-o one.06/20/2014 edit - I contact Kohler and their customer service was very good. I provided them the details and they issued a "letter of credit" for the purchase price which was a good gesture. I contacted Amazon about how to apply the letter of credit and Amazon simply issued the credit - another good gesture. So I'm pleased with both Kohler and Amazon response. I'd really like to get another Kohler seat but I guess wood is out as all of theirs have only 2 bumpers. I'm a bit hesitant to try their plastic which would have the 4 bumpers but seem to get a lot of negative reviews about shifting due to the quick release. Wish I could find their older models without quick release.

I was so happy with this. I love Kohler products anyway. For a couple of years I had a plastic seat that went with the toilet (American Standard) and was always coming loose. I have back problems so having to tighten it constantly was a groaner. Most seats that I found were too expensive for me. But when I found this one...nice bevel, price I could handle and Kohler product, it was a no brainer for me. I was a little concerned about the color fit and seat fit too, given the different brand, but it fit perfectly and the color matched better than the original...nice surprise. The only picky criticism is, the paint job on it could have been a little smoother and one of the caps on the connection pops open occasionally. But that's a lot easier to remedy than the other where I had to turn into a pretzel and tighten the screw underneath! A definite winner.

Normally I don't provide follow-up reviews on products as others usually have already stated what I find in the products. This Kohler Seat design however deserves my praise. If you've ever fought with a toilet seat that constantly comes loose no matter how much effort you put into tightening the mounting hardware you will appreciate the design of the hardware this seat comes with. The instructions don't give much info on how to properly apply it but it's very easy to figure out. Once I could see the way it went together I knew it was a vast improvement over any other toilet seat I had ever installed. I had to replace my original non Kohler seat because it broke and after installing this one I immediately purchased another one to replace the cheapy in my second bathroom. Since my original install (2 months now) I have not had to adjust straighten or tighten the hardware even once. Thank you Kohler Design Team!

Pro- Kohler quality seat and shapeCon- cheap plastic bolt with black plastic nut that is difficult to keep tight. As others noted likely best to keep old set of metal bolt and nut.

The toilet seat feels sturdy unlike the cheap plastic seats. Also, since this is your old-fashioned toilet seat, you are not paying extra for the slow-close hinge. Compared to the Kohler plastic seats with the slow-close hinge that cost around $50-60, this seat feels like a better purchase because it does not feel or look cheap -- and the seat is not slanted into the bowl like the plastic seats with the slow-close hinge that cost around $50-$60.Best bang for the buck in terms of look and comfort. ( As long as you know how to close a toilet seat without banging it. )

Tres satisfait

Although the seat is a very close match for the toilet it is not of the same quality as the original toilet seat which lasted almost 20 years. This one will likely make it a couple years. The seat arrived with a small chip on the underside of the lid and has a couple dust blemishes in the finish. Overall still feels substantial and is much nicer than plastic.

It would be nice if it was soft close

Bought for an older Koehler toilet. Colour wax a concern but it is a perfect match. Delivery was very prompt and price was best I could find.
