Brilliant Writer
Robert Bly is one of my favorite poets alive because of his style and subject matter, I could sit and read this poetry every morning. This particular book is one of my favorites, filled with the simple and evocative musings on nature and life. If other's saw the world the way Bly does, it would be a much better world.Bly brings even the smallest blade into sharp focus with his attention to detail, even the mundane becomes meaningful without sentiment. There is no one like Robert Bly, he is a true original.

Quiet to the senses...
An important book of poems, still, some 50 odd years later. Because of the poet's attempt to work with words to sense all silent things in a world, his world. And then also the sounds of thinking and attentive listening are here. Is it silence? one wonders with the quiet words and often without reply.

Poetry of place and time
An absolutely beautiful first volume by an important poet and translator. The descriptions are grounded and visually provocative. Old men sitting on porches in car seats - yes, the American country side as it often is.

A few gems
I like this volume of poems, but at times they seem to literal and it feels like the author struggles to fit every poem into the dark. Despite my low rating the Book is worth the time invested. It's a matter of a conflict of style.
