Meet the GL.iNet GL-XE300, a nifty mobile hotspot that's been a game-changer in my car. It runs on OpenWRT, a big advantage if you're into tweaking and customizing your devices. This device not only allows me to connect multiple devices on the go, but it can be used with common VPNs. That's a great news for keeping my traffic safe and secure, and I've found it handy for leveraging a cheaper wireless plan to share with my passengers. It's also a real asset when it comes to avoiding those pesky geo-blocks that some streaming services put up. The VPN, however, does slow things down a bit. It's a trade-off between speed and security. I've noticed that my internet is not quite as snappy when running everything through the VPN, but it's a compromise I'm willing to make for the added security and especially the cost-saving. My 4G router had been performing flawlesly for months until unbeknown to me, my cellular provider made some backend changes that gave me sudden VPN problems over cellular data. GL-iNet technical support went beyond my expectations to help identify the cause, and provide the solution within a few hours. Provides 4G data to multiple devices including by ethernet. A very customizable router with easy to setup WireGuard VPN, especially if you have a GL-iNET product on both ends.

I put a spare sim card here for occasional use when my wife has to work in locations that don't have easy internet access. Setup was really easy and "just worked". I also plan to use it on the once per winter snow storm that takes out Comcast Internet. Just a great little device. I looked far and wide for this and really surprised that it doesn't show up when searching for MiFi devices (which this really is)

Tech support is really good, they get back to you within a day. Although, I rather live person to speak with but email is equally good.

These are great routers. I've deployed hundreds of these in the last 3 years and they mostly just work. We do put external antenna afapters on them to improve signal.
