Q: What did you all use to glue to your cars? I have contact cement and a two stage epoxy, think the contact cement will suffice?

I do not think rubber contact cement will suffice as you are stopping a 5 oz rolling object that is going about 15mph if not more at end of track. Dont think contact cement was designed for shear forces. I use super glue gel style. 2 part epoxy will work as well. Another option is you can also drill a hole through the bottom of your car and attach with screw as some others have left in the feedback portion of the listing.

Q: It says it is a lead canopy, which is against the rules for bsa. is this a misprint?

It is not a misprint. The official BSA rules that come in the box do not mention anything about lead being illegal. This may be a local pack rule. For whatever reason they deem it illegal is beyond my knowledge as lead is perfectly safe to handle, however dusting and eating it can be toxic. If you need additional data to forward to pack leaders, I will be gald to forward you to San Antonio Metro Health and let you talk to the people in charge of handling and testing lead in the general population.

Q: How easily can the shape of the canopy be tweaked/modified, and by what method?

It is pretty hard material for lead. It can be drilled or cut. If you want to ad weight you can epoxy to it.

Q: Do you need a special drill bit to drill into the bottom? We need to take some weight off.

No lead is very soft. However the lead dust is very dangerous. I would drill holes out of the bottom of the car (wood) to take weight out.
