Unlike most knives this small, when open, there is something that you can genuinely call a handle with a finger guard. It's a little awkward in that you can't get more than two and a half fingers on it, but it's intentionally small. It's very difficult to use one-handed, but no one suggested otherwise. It's hollow ground on one side and flat on the other, so sometimes cuts will want to curve. It is double-beveled, though. My only real complaint is that there is no lock, just a slip joint. It does have a stop at 90°, which is pretty stiff. It's a reasonable safety feature, but a lock would be better.
