This device does allow a Blu-ray player to be hooked up to a TV with only an A/V port. It looks just like the previous one that I bought that did not work for that purpose. I have tried buying these and you cannot tell from high ratings if the one you get will work or not since the previous one had high ratings too. I even bought two with the same brand name and seller and the first one worked and the second did not. If you still have a need to plug in a HDMI output to an A/V port, I would recommend buy from a seller that uses Amazon fulfilled for ease of return for the ones that do not work since this device is probably made by one or two manufacturers and then re-branded by the reseller. I do not think how much a reseller marks it up determines the quality since I do not see what a reseller can do to enhance this device. The original one that worked is still working after more than a couple of years since there doesn't appear to be any moving parts and does not get hot. This one did require the 5V adapter to make it work and my original one did not need that boosted power.

My problem was a nice old flat screen CRT TV with many inputs but no HDMI input. This device converts HDMI coming out of my laptop to standard TV via RCA plugs for composite TV and stereo sound. It seemed not to work at first until in the flickering of the screen I saw "PAL." I looked at the device and the switch was in the "NTSC" position. I switched it to PAL and then the picture stopped flickering, gave adequate color and there was a short duration "NTSC" on the screen. Yes, NTSC is what my TV needs, the switch is mislabeled, but the device works fairly well. It cut off a bit of my laptop's screen and it wasn't particularly sharp but of course it was lower in resolution for standard TV. I was playing streaming content from the Olympics and the screen size could be altered on my laptop to more closely match the TV for a picture that was quite acceptable. Not as good at the SVideo output from an older laptop but that was no longer an option.

I got this because I had an old television given to me from a family member and it has no HDMI port for my PS4. I just needed something to work until I could afford a new TV. I didn't expect it to retain the HD graphics, I expected a little fuzziness. But, it does exactly what it says it will and I am able to watch Netflix off my PS4, and I can still play games, but the picture is just very fuzzy. It will do the job until I can afford another TV. This is exactly what I needed and not too pricey.There are comments before mine that say it won't work with PS4...wrong. The box WILL work with PS4, but it will be FUZZY. If you can't deal with the FUZZY screen, I'd suggest getting a new TV instead if you can afford it.Overall, the product came a day early, and was exactly what I needed as well as easy to setup. I'd recommend.

The best thing ever. literarily a vcr, dvd, cd, surround sound, wi-fi, & fire stick are all hooked up fully functional and it’s due in part to this, an RF modulator. And the devices are from different eras.

Thought it might end up being annoyingly complicated to use this to hook my PC up to my CRT TV, but it worked like a charm. Just plug in the HDMI chord and the RCA plugs and it works like any other converter.The only problem i've had with it so far is that at one point it would keep displaying the ntsc logo at the top left of the screen, and the connection would mess up and go static for a bit. It's not happening anymore though, so all in all really satisfied with the product.

I normally do not write reviews for these, however I feel as though I have been let down pretty extensively with this product. The package arrived on time and included all necessary items (minus the AV cord) but upon setting it up, the original power cable did not work. I had to use my cable from my graphing calculator in order to use it, until I bought a new cord. Then the device worked flawlessly. I would just change out the HDMI cord to the console I wanted to use and it had better picture than I expected. However, after not even a dozen uses, it seems that the device is no longer working. I tried multiple cords (HDMI, AV, and power) and nothing. Then I bought a charging plug that lights up when it emits power and tested that with the device. My cords worked with the calculator but no light with the converter. Therefore after a month, and roughly 8 uses, it already stopped working. I will not be ordering another one of these from this seller.

does the job but weak in power, need something a lil stronger. bought to use a firestick on a tv with no hdmi input, you first have to set your firestick up on a computer or something and then once its ready for use then plug it in and it works, however it did restart a few times because of the weak power, but worked fine after that. everything played well with no interuptions.

Cannot hook up PlayStation 4 it's good for Amazon Fire stick but it gets hot so I have to keep the fan blowing on it now I have to buy me different one from a different company there's does convert HDMI PS4 to an old TV just like this one guess this one's no good to me except for the fire stick no refund had it 2mths
