Don’t waste you money on regular outdoor faucets. Spend a few bucks and get this one

Thought I wanted a ball valve, this wasn't the body style I was originally looking for. But after checking out both Lowe's and Home Depot I found that this was the only style they had too ... but Amazon's price was best.What I was really looking for was a valve styled like this: https://smile.amazon.com/PROPLUS-GIDDS-262483-Hose-Bibb-Valve/dp/B008MG1PH6/ref=sr_1_18?keywords=ball+valve+hose+bibb&qid=1568071649&s=hi&sr=1-18 ). But since this style no longer appears to be available I went ahead and purchased Amazon's valve.One good thing about this valve is that if the space you have is tight, and so you need a nifty small valve, then this valve perhaps would be a good choice. It's easily installed (though the female house connection does require tape thread), it fits into a tight space, and is easy to use. However this valve likely should not be used with water systems that convey or dispense water for human consumption (the water will come into contact with the valves brass parts). Actually I wanted a valve with a steel lever handle so I would be able to turn it off and on with my foot (my house connection is fairly low to the ground). Of course this valve doesn't have a lever handle but it is easy to use otherwise. How long the plastic handle will hold up ... I don't know (we'll see). But I'm glad to have the valve. And for the short time it's been in use I haven't had any problems with it ... it's worked well.

Seems to be of good quality. Works as designed

On some of my Hose Bibs I want the maximum water volume. I do not want the water flow restricted at the faucet. This ball valve has almost no restriction due to the ball opening and closing the water flow. The valve is not turned down as most most Hose Bibs, making it less restrictive on water flow. The ball valve knob is only turned 90 degrees for full open, unlike regular Hose Bibs which require several turns. A regular Hose Bib has a gasket to seal off the water, and typically the seal fails within 2 or 3 years. The screw holding the gasket is subject to breaking off when replacing the gasket, if you can find a replacement gasket.I have never had a ball valve fail. I have had many conventional Hose Bibs fail at the stem packing or gasket. I don't remember ever finding replacement parts. As my conventional Hose Bibs fail, I will replace them with the ball valve type Hose Bib.

The big box stores wanted about 50% more for a quarter turn valve. So buying thru Amazon I got a quarter turn valve for the price of a conventional type. After installing no leaks and the flow is great. I removed the Teflon tape the builder used and instead used dope on the male threads. I read somewhere dope on metal, tape if one or more of the connections is plastic, been working for me so far! Recommend, if another hose bibb needs changed out I will buy another one of these.

The quarter turn handle moves smoothly and easily.Very convenient.

Despite reviewers praising the out flow, This valve has a "port" the same size as the smaller 1/2 inch valve. I was seeking a full bore (the ball valve has a hole larger or the same size as the input/output, to minimize water flow noise thru the open valve. Returned, waiting for a full bore replacement on slow ship from China..To be fair, the description does not say kit is full bore

I have lived in my home for 15 yrs. The outdoor bibs are original and leaked like a sieve when we used them. They were very cheap all in one units that took like 10 turns to get full flow and the internal gaskets were not replaceable. I shut off the water main and replaced all of them with these instead. So much easier to get full flow and no drips. Easy peasy.
