Easy & Convenient
Homestead Essentials Roll-Out 3-Compartment Chicken Nesting Boxes are an excellent addition to any backyard chicken coop. These nesting boxes are designed with the comfort and happiness of our feathered friends in mind. The three spacious compartments provide plenty of room for hens to lay their eggs comfortably and safely. One of the best features of these nesting boxes is the roll-out design, which makes collecting eggs incredibly easy and convenient. I no longer have to raach into cramped, overcrowded nests to retrieve eggs - I simply roll out the tray and collect your eggs with ease. This design also helps to keep eggs clean and free from damage, which is essential for those of us who sell our eggs!Another great feature is the sturdy, high-quality construction of these nesting boxes. Made from durable materials that are built to last, these boxes will hopefully provide years of reliable use. They are also easy to clean and maintain, ensuring that our chickens always have a comfortable and healthy place to lay their eggs.Overall, Homestead Essentials Roll-Out 3-Compartment Chicken Nesting Boxes are a fantastic investment for any backyard chicken keeper. They are well-designed, easy to use, and built to last, making them an essential addition to any coop.

Very Happy!
This is a beautiful product. All the metal pieces came wrapped in cellophane to protect them from scratches and they are very well machined. The nesting boxes went together very quickly. I'm excited to see how the hens like them!

They will fall and flip up. Might need extra support
I really liked them. They look nice and easy to put together. The nesting “floor” egg collector is made to “click” into place so you can pull them out for easy cleaning. Well we come in often to them pulled out and turned up slightly. From the chickens flying up and landing on them. I think we will add a way of locking them in so it doesn’t continue. Maybe some type of cotter pin. Otherwise overall seem quite nice!

Great Value for the money! Sturdy galvanized sheet steel, FLEXIBLE NON-CHIPPING PLASTIC!
Okay..in the title I buried the lead! The plastics slid in trays that lock into place when assembled are FLEXIBLE! They hold up in -20F without getting brittle and shattering! This is the weakness in almost EVERY NESTING BOX!The Nesting Box itself is made of a sturdy gauge (21g i think…about the same a good steel roofing) GALVANIZED and PAINTED Steel! When you assemble it you realize there are no lock washers and that THIS is BY DESIGN! The flanged nuts locking ribs pressed into the flange that locks against the steel. These will not unscrew or loosen over time with movement and use. Trust me, ‘I’m a Scientist’ I know good quality product when I see it!Frankly after seeing what is available at all the farm stores for MUCH more money I was expecting to return this and end up building my own….The model just like this at (a competitor farm store) went from $89.99 up to $329.99 this last year (Inflation anyone?) so I had low expectations for this affordable model. I was absolutely WRONG!This is great quality at a great price! The only adaptation I made for our coop, since the nesting box is not hung on a wall but set up on a table…was to take 1/2” OSB and make a 19-1/2” x 32” backing board, drill six holes in the back flanges of the metal dividers and affix it with 3/4” wood screws for a back board that is tall enough to hold the entire nest up at the perfect egg rolling angle. It took less than 10 minutes and cost $4.00 worth of OSB that I had on hand. The manufacturer gives you MORE screws and nuts than necessary (Always a bonus!) and provides screw in hooks that you can use to mount this on an inside wall so that the nests point inward on the inside of the enclosure. They thought of absolutely EVERYTHING! Which frankly is a very pleasant surprise with the average manufacturer today. And having a little hardware left over to put in my ‘Spare Nuts &Bolts’ jar is like getting more change than you expected because the item you purchased was on a sale of which you were not aware! It just FEELS better!Today I take this sturdy nesting box out to our 10 chickens for the acid test. I did not buy nesting pads because I have materials on hand…but they NEED nesting pads to keep the eggs uncompromising! The eggs roll forward (in tests) into the front covered bin as expected and there is room for nearly a dozen medium eggs in each nest if you only go out once per day. Your chickens will SHARE the nests! One nest for every four to five chickens is more than adequate. Until now we have used two 3 gallon buckets on a slight tilt for 10 chickens and they have done famously. Chickens are not terribly discerning. They may actually be stupid. But they love this nesting box and make it a bargain that will hold up for many many years! As a sheep farmer I buy tough and expect every investment to last 20 years. So cheapest is not always the first choice. With recent hyper inflation and the doubling of metal next boxes this last year I think this may be the best, most affordable and functional offering at this price point on the market. From me…VERY HIGH PRAISE INDEED!Week After Update: We are getting TWICE as many EGGS since installing this new nesting box! I think in the old standard ‘bucket and board’ nesting boxes the chickens were eating some of the eggs. Now they CAN’T! YEAH! I like eggs!

Great Value
I am a DIY gal, but no time so I bought this. I was worried because I like quality HD stuff but I was pleasantly surprised. When I originally had it delivered I was surprised at the weight of the box.I put it together with a screwdriver within 15 minutes. Most parts were decent tin and of decent quality. Everything lined up fine and it was easy to assemble.I also like that the mounting hardware is hooks (or you could screw it) so I will be able to remove it easily if I want to take it out to power wash it or move it for any other reason.Overall, I am pleasantly surprised with the product, quality and price point.

Bought 2 years ago, and now the nest boxes won't stay in.
Our 13 hens this nesting box! So did we as it was easy to gather eggs, and easy to clean when an egg got broken in the box. Unfortunately all the hens jumping on and off somehow loosened the screws that attach the front horizontal metal to the vertical metal frame. This has made it so the next boxes constantly tip out and become unusable. I tried using other screws to hold it together, but they keep getting pulled out as well. It could probably be welded back together, but what a pain. If you buy this make sure you keep checking the screws.

It works fine, chicked won't leave.
The chicken love to sleep in there creating a mess that will block the eggs from rolling down. The best way to clean it is by scooping it out (by hand), then hosing it out. No the funnest part of having it. It does prevent the hens from pecking the eggs when its clean and they lay in it.

Instructions need to be better + would have liked a piece of sheet metal to cover up one side
This is a pretty good product but it was a challenge to put together as the instructions were quite lacking. That said, it does come together…eventually. One thing I would have liked to have had come with this kit is a piece of sheet metal that covers the backside and allow you the option of hanging the nesting boxes outside of the coop, rather than taking up space inside the coop. Especially useful if you have a smaller coop, like the setup pictured. (not my pic)I had to custom add this on for mine. I dunno, maybe this vendor has another unit with that backing and I missed it?
