Unexpectedly good
The story takes place at the beginning of WW2. A young, rich American couple are on honeymoon in Europe when they become embroiled in a mystery and are chased by Nazis through Austria and Germany to Paris. They manage to escape by the skin of their teeth. Hugely enjoyable.

Not a thriller
Descriptive writing does make the reader feel the excitement of situations but mainly quite unbelievable. At times it was almost comedic in scenarios described. Not my favourite read of WW2 stories.

A most annoying book!
I found it tedious and Stella Bled a tiresome heroine. The whole story was so far fetched, but having said that it has the potential to become a movie because it moved from one 'plot' and country at the speed of knots and she and her husband survived when everyone else was killed. It took me longer than usual to finish the book. I had to have a break from time to time because Stella was so annoying. I will not be reading the sequel!

An Adventure Story
A fun, pacy read despite being difficult to believe. The characters are well rounded but definitely fictional. Good historical research and a sense of the menace felt by the Italians and French at this time.

Excellent
An incredible read, finished it in two nights, Gripping to the very last page, can't wait to read the sequel. Believable and unbelievable at the same time. Going to follow the author as soon as possible. I'd recommend this book for anyone who enjoys an exciting read.

Slow start, but wow!
I bought this book when it first came out. I tried several times to read it, and I just could not get into it. Recently, I was looking for an audiobook to listen to while driving. I picked the Paris Package. This is a fantastic listen! I figured out that I didn't really care for insipid, silly Stella in the beginning and that is why I could not get through the beginning of the book. I should have trusted the author and kept reading. I am halfway through the second book and will listen to them, one right after the other until I am done (only 3 on audio right now, I will have to read the others). This series shows Stella shed her socialite skin and grow a backbone of steel. She was always kind and, deeply hidden, adventurous and intelligent but she played the role expected of her in public. When pressed, she does the right thing at her own expense. There is no time for thinking, or planning, just reacting. I have literally lost sleep, staying up past 2 am, to finish the first book and am more thank 1/2 through the second. I wish they were all available on Audio!I am thoroughly enjoying this action-packed series. Are some of the escapades a little outlandish? Yes. Is an 18 yo woman the focus and overall "hero"? Again Yes. If you are looking for a staid and completely plausible story about Americans in Europe at the beginning of the war, this isn't it. If you are looking for a series that is both thrilling and captivating look no further.

Recommend
Staying home to stay safe during Covid, I am reading almost a book a day. I needed a change from my usual genres and this novel was perfect. The way I measure a great book is if makes me feel part of the action, not just a reader or a sideline observer. This story has it!

Not worth the time or money
The most absurd novel I have read recently. The couple on a honeymoon trip when WW2 has already begun! And the race all over the continent makes it so long drawn out that I was lkipping page after page just to get it over.

A truly fabulous journey and I honestly can't wait for more.
Well, that was action-packed awe-inspiring honeymoon I won't ever forget. So many places travelled through such a horrific time in history and A.W Hartoin did such a wonderful job bringing it all to life, I was on the edge of my seat so many time wondering if Stella and Nicky would ever make back home again and still they have not made it yet but that's ok because it means more adventures ahead.I'll be honest I enjoyed it up until all the crap with Cyril that dragged on way too long especially after they got to Paris, I cheered when Stella snuck away from him.Gabriele Greise reminded me of the female German soldier in the 3rd Indiana Jones Movies.
