iPad Mini 6 Starlight | Apple Pencil 2 vs. TiMOVO Stylus Pencil (Gradient Orange) & NiDOO Sleeve
Feedback: The button placement did not get in the way of my writing. The stylus is very comfortable to hold and has a nice weight to it. I love the gradient color with my Starlight iPad Mini. I don’t like that the USB-C port is visible and as you can see, the stylus is essentially the same size as the regular Apple Pencil 2 – but the way it magnetizes to the side looks awkward. The button should be a click button at the top of the stylus. Why? Because when you attach the stylus the magnet force turns the device on by itself, and that is very annoying. I DO NOT want a capacitive option up top, the button is a tactile response which is preferred – there is no guess work – you physically get a click to turn it on and off, I don’t like touch gestures, even on Bluetooth earbuds – it’ sounds fancy but for me isn’t practical in use – I always find myself accidentally disconnecting a call or changing a setting while adjusting the earbud in my ear, my Galaxy Buds Live let me disable the touch input so that takes care of that. That being sad this doesn’t charge magnetically so storing it on the side really is a look more than function – both this stylus and the Apple Pencil get in the way of typing while holding the device, less on the Apple Pencil 2 though. The NIB on the Apple Pencil 2 doesn’t feel like you are tapping hard at your display – the Apple Pencil 2 isn’t as “loud” and feels different when it writes on the display, yet both NIB material feel very similar, if not the same.****************************************************************************Helpful Hints: Disable Bluetooth and unpair any Apple Pencil 2 previously connected to the device. Settings>Apple Pencil>Only Draw with Apple Pencil – Disable this if you want to be able to use it swiping through the OS(funny, ok so I first paired my Apple Pencil, then sat it aside and tried this one out. Only Draw with Apple Pencil and Bluetooth were enabled and this one did not work. I then ‘forgot’ the Apple Pencil 2 and turned Bluetooth off – this one then worked – but only in the Note app – unable to navigate the UI with it – until I turned Only Draw with Apple Pencil off – then I had the ability to navigate via the stylus – however lol, I turned Only Draw with Apple Pencil back on – and I could still navigate the UI and write with the stylus – as soon as I turned Bluetooth on – I lost all capability to use this stylus – mind you no device is saved, just Bluetooth turned on) – LOL – and then – I powered the stylus on and off – and alternated between Bluetooth being turned on and off – and it worked o_0 – LOL strange.********************************************************************************Conclusion:*The Apple Pencil 2 has better weight distribution and feels better when writing with it*The Apple Pencil 2 only works with Bluetooth turned on and does not work with a dead battery*TiMOVO Stylus Pencil works without the need for Bluetooth connection – simply press the button.*Both stylus allow you to navigate the UI*The TiMOVO Stylus Pencil comes with 3 additional NIBS*You can buy 4-5 TiMOVO Stylus Pencils before 1 cost of an Apple Pencil 2*Both stylus get in the way if holding and typing, the Apple Pencil 2 looks better stored on the side*The smaller size of the iPad Mini 6 has a lot to do with the poor magnetic placement on the TiMOVO Stylus Pencil so it may look better on larger compatible iPads*Samsung capacitive stylus like the Tab S7 is a superior product that doesn’t need a Bluetooth connection to still write with*The Apple Pencil 2 battery can not be replaced and is expensive for what you get*The Apple Pencil 2 must be used consistently to get the best use out of the battery and prevent it from failing meaning it needs to be connected to the side of your iPad frequently*The TiMOVO Stylus Pencil is USB-C just like the iPad Mini 6 with a quick charge time and long standby time*Multiple posts about the Apple Pencil 2 going dead if not charged properly, used frequently, and has to be replaced with a new one*The Apple Pencil 2 charges only by connecting to the iPad*****************************************************************************Having the stylus connect to the back of the device like the Samsung tablet is more user friendly in my opinion, plus it’s included in the cost, and will work without a power source (battery, Bluetooth). The Apple Pencil 2 costs 4-5 times more than this alternative TiMOVO Stylus Pencil version for the iPad. Complaints aside, and my expected use case, I will ultimately stick with this one over the Apple Pencil 2.I like holding the iPad and typing and both pens get in the way, and this would ruin the Apple Pencil 2 overtime. If you will utilize your Apple Pencil 2 frequently, multiple times throughout the day then it may work for you. But I don’t want either pen stored on the side, yes, it is cool but not if it will harm the internal battery from infrequent use and it being disconnected because I don’t want it just sitting on the side or I forget to reconnect it or something. The case on my Tab S7 makes the back ‘flat’ for storing the S-Pen so it doesn’t get in my way when I Am not using it. I do plan on using stylus input with the iPad just don’t want the pressure of using it every day. I do wish the Apple Pencil 2 still worked without the need for a Bluetooth connection or battery supply, if it did, I would have went with it because even if the battery dies on me, I can still use it just fine for what I want to use it for. Then again, why pay 4-5 times more for essentially the same experience. The weight distribution on the AP2 is so nice though, you definitely notice the difference.Keeping the red sleeve as it provides more cushion and a place to store my stylus. The other 2, the smaller one fits the tablet perfectly, but no drop protection and no place to store the stylus- the larger one, may work if you use a Spigen or some other thicker case option and you want a sleeve for it. For now, I will wait until I can get a nice leather clip on case similar to the Note 10 devices

My New Pen
I had been considering getting a apple pen but I wanted a pen that was more my style. This pen performs great for me while drawing in procreate and just writing in my journal. The battery life lasts more than a week and I'm very please with this because I often forget to charge my gadgets. My pen fits my hand perfectly and comfortable to use for a long time. Most of all I love the color that fits my style and I finally have a great pen to help bring my projects to life.

It works well enough
For the price, I was satisfied. The stability is actually pretty okay, as someone who has slight tremors. The only thing I didn’t really like is that there isn’t really any pressure sensitivity, meaning it can’t create a taper (referring to the shape of the stroke) I’d lost my apple pen and used it until I could buy a new one, then gifted this one to a friend. Just for reference I use ProCreate, and overall it paired decently with this application.

Good buy.
Just purchased a new iPad mini and was on the fence about the Apple Pen. Decided to give this one a shot since I don't use the pen enough to really justify spending the big bucks. I am very happy with this purchase. Does what it needs to do at a fraction of the cost.

Awesome stylus!
This is a great option for a stylus. I use it on my iPad. No Bluetooth just turn it on and it works. Charges up easy and fits in my iPad case. Love the colors!

The commercial video Half of it is a lie
The only other problem with this pen is that it’s not for an artist it’s only for writers because I cannot to The sensitivity pressure doesn’t work and there is no proper instructions of how to connect on your iPad but honestly it does feel like I’m holding a real pencil specially how the angle works but I wish it would work with sensitivity pressure so I can use it also as an art not only for writing . Don’t believe the commercial when it shows like you can draw to. But it is a pretty pen that I can enjoy a one more thing there’s a missing item which is the leather pouch where you put the pin in it’s not there. Maybe there’s a mistake in delivery I don’t know but it is worth it.

The recipient is very happy with it!
This sylus has a good weight, the ombre magenta-to purple-color is pleasing, and the stylus capacity is excellent. [It works on some of my devices as well as on my relative's Pad Mini 5.] But the price is far above most other styli I have bought. I wonder why that is.

Great product
This is a great alternative to an Apple Pencil if you’re on a budget. It wild be perfect if it could also do pressure sensitivity to influence line weight in apps like procreate.

Excellent buy, well worth it.
I purchased this product in the gradient blue, it arrived nicely packaged and I was able to use it immediately with my new iPad pro 11 2nd gen (2020) no set up required.I bought a new iPad primarily to improve my drawing abilities on procreate and this pencil does not disappoint. The accuracy is excellent, no jumping around or missing areas. The tip is very smooth and it's nice and comfortable to hold.It has a USB C charging port, so you can use your iPad charger to charge the pencil and vice versa. It also magnetically attaches to the iPad, but only on the right hand side, sorry lefties! It has tilt settings rather than pressure settings, which can alter opacity or the size of the brush your using, which you can change to your liking in the settings. The only thing it can't do is improve my handwriting 😊

Great alternative to Apple Pencil with slight design flaw
This is a very good stylus. It’s pretty much the same size as the Apple Pencil. It’s magnetic as well although it doesn’t charge from the iPad, but it does attach securely to the side. I got the blue one and it’s very nice and came with three replacement nibs.To use make sure you turn your Bluetooth off on your device then it works fine. Took a few minutes to figure that out. Battery life is great. I used it on and off for about a week before I had to charge it.My only issue was the on/of switch which. Is located halfway down the Pencil makes it easy to accidentally turn it on or off while you’re using it. If they shifted the button to the top of the pen it would make more sense. Also it doesn’t appear to come with a cover for the usb c port so it looks a bit vulnerable and liable to take one a lot of dust.As a cheap alternative to the Apple Pencil it’s great but I replaced mine with one that had a power switch at the top of the pen.

Excellent value for money…..(as long as it lasts)
Arrived fast & nicely packaged, charges quickly. Bought for my partner who has just got a new iPad Pro 12.9” and it’s worked seamlessly purchased in the purple gradient colour which looks super cool, fits well in the pen loop too. Just thought we’d give one a try instead of spending £100+ on the Apple stylus and so far so good, as long as it lasts …

Amazing
I had recently brought an iPad and didn’t want to spend the money on the actual apple version. This came up on my recommended to buy category and I thought for the price, why not. I’m seriously impressed with how amazing this pencil is, it works seamlessly on the notes app and on Procreate. The battery life is phenomenal, I’ve only had to charge it once and I use it all the time. The only downside is you can’t swap between apps when using it, but that’s nothing compared to what it can do!

Pretty good
So I bought this as I didn't want to buy and Apple pen for £100 odd, straight away. This pen isn't bad, when drawing or writing there isn't a lag. It's easy to hold, easy to store as you can use the magnet function on the side of the ipad and easy to set up. The only thing I have is now and then the pen will just cut out, especially after fully charging, even then the battery life isn't that long. Not sure if I got a faulty one. But its good if you don't want to spash your money out.
