Everything is bigger these days, I guess, but the shape???
I bought these to replace a set that my mother bought me years ago, but which, over time, seems to have been depleted . . . where COULD six teaspoons have gone? (Ran off with some dishes, I guess?) --In any case, they are just not as nice. They are shinier, which I don't actually like. (The old set wasn't frosted, but did not have a mirror-like finish. It was subtle and pretty. And discontinued.)But my real complaint is the size and shape of the forks and spoon bowls. The salad fork tines are about as long as the dinner fork tines were on my old set, and the dinner fork tines are proportionately longer. The whole implement--the knife, the fork, the spoon--is longer than what I am used to. I suppose this makes sense, because the dishes I bought recently are similarly outsized--plate sizes have gotten larger over the last couple of decades, which is too bad for many reasons. But I digress. This tableware claims to use European sizing or styling. Maybe. But what I liked about my older set was the curvature of the spoons' bowls. I could put a spoonful of yogurt, or ice cream, or whatever, into my mouth and it would emerge clean--not technically, but visually. With these spoons, if I don't want to leave an unsightly layer of food-that-was-already-in-my-mouth behind, it is necessary to pull the spoon into a more vertical angle, or flip it over and surreptitiously lick what remains on it . . . who needs that?I think they'll last, but they just don't make 'em like they used to.

Great every day flatware
I bought this to supplement another set of flatware (called Metropolitan, by Wallace) that went out of production, because I liked the old set of steak knives so much. This Mikasa set matches the look of the handle so closely, you really canโt tell they are two separate sets until you read the label.Other reviewers said they experienced rust spots on the butter knives, and this did not happen here. I do know from prior research, rinsing things like mayonnaise off of flatware knives, so they donโt sit, and using rinse aid can help prevent this. We also have soft water in our area, which probably also helps prevent that.I also wish I could find an additional serving set that could be purchased separately. All that said, the set has a good weight and I like the size of the dinner forks better than my old set. My husband thinks the teaspoons could be a bit bigger, or the tablespoons a bit smaller.

Easily scratched
Love the look and the way it feels. Not too big as other reviews stated. Sturdy and easy to hold. But they scratch very easily. Within a few days of using them there were scratches. I didn't return because I love everything about them, but they scratch very easily unless hand washed. Who wants to do that?

They say to not let set in dishwasher which does happen at our house. So shows watermark which can be wiped off

Nice!
I was very happy with this set. They seem sturdy and wash well. My only issue with it is that the teaspoons are larger than I like, so if your looking for petite teaspoons this is not the set for you. It did however come with nice serving spoons. I would buy it again.
