My motherboard has the SATA ports right there, but they are flat and you connect 90 degrees to the motherboard, and this card rests right on top of them. It is powerful enough to play all of my games on Ultra mode. It is also a beast at video rendering, I have cut my render times down substantially with this card. The packaging is easy to open and frustration free, it also has plastic covers over all of the contact points which I found to be a nice touch.
