Zooz is wonderful and these switches are no exception
I’m a complete convert to Zooz devices and these ZEN73 switches are no exception. Zooz Z-Wave “just works” with Home Assistant and is so easy to connect. Documentation is good and technical support has never steered me wrong. I’ve been looking for several years for a good replacement for my old Insteon switches and based on experience with other Zooz devices I decided to give these switches a try. (The fact that they make my wife happy is a plus! She insists on having a “traditional” toggle switch look rather than another solution that is more contemporary in appearance and function.) Hookup is easy and coming from the old Insteon switches I especially love how much less space is taken up in the box for these — no extra wires and wire nuts, just clean attachments.

Complex made easy while adding robust capabilities to my lighting
I have had.a set of lights on a four way system that I have wanted to make a smart system for years except I feared the hassle and expense of wiring this system. Multiple way systems are complex to wire and get working for those who don’t wire these often and other systems require the additional expense of buying multiple units just to operate one set of lights. This system allows one to automate a four way system (three switches and lights) with just one unit (this one). The instructions were excellent. I carefully evaluated the wiring in each box to determine the proper placement of this unit. I took my time and wired the box as described in the instructions and to my delight, the switch worked properly on the first attempt. I am also pleased that the recessed lighting on my system responded well to the dimmer. Very pleased with the outcome of this project and will add Zoom switches to some of my other multiple way lights.

Best Zwave switch—with small caveat
I highly recommend Zooz switches and dimmers. Everything about this switch makes you feel you have purchased a quality product. The packaging, the instructions, the flawless way it includes itself, web site, and customer service are all first rate. The feature that allows you to use a three way switch and wiring currently in place to turn the light on or off from another location saves you $20 for the GE accessory switch, and some time compared to the GE/Honeywell/ultra pro switches from Jasco. Note that you turn on and off, but cannot dim remotely with an old manual switch. There are also no fins you have to break off. Dimming works well with a truly dimmable LED, like FEIT. I’ve installed hundreds of home automation switches, and these are the best, but although I gave 5 stars to this switch compared to others, a couple of issues miss actual perfection. First, the paddle assembly appears to be about 1mm larger than other switches. If your house is 25+ years old and uses the thick, hard Leviton switch plates, you may need to buy new plates. Don’t force the switches into the plate. They will bind and will eventually not operate properly. Either file the old plate larger (a PITA) or drop a buck or two on a new plate (recommended). Many of the new plates are screwless, and it is a nice look you may want to include in your upgrade anyway. Regardless of the brand of switch, it seems I have a 50/50 chance of breaking the old, brittle multiple gang plates anyway trying to wrestle all the switches into place. Also, unlike the GE/Jasco, these switches do require that you know which wire is your line (hot) and which is the load (light), and they come with nice labels for the wires and excellent instructions. No big deal, and I think it is safer to know which wire is hot anyway. Finally, there is capacity. These are 300 watt dimmers rather than the 500 or 600 watt capacity on Jasco and some other HA technology. The Zooz switches are made for the 21st century. They use neutrals so that LED bulbs are welcome, take up less depth in the box and have no heat fins. They play well with LEDs (though beware that many “dimmable” LEDs are flickering junk, no matter the switch). At 300W, these dimmers will not handle a vanity mirror light with a large array of incandescent bulbs. If someone insists on keeping and dimming a power hungry dinosaur like that, don’t use the Zooz dimmer. This one is good for 5 60w bulbs, but some builders thought 6 or 8 would look luxurious. Enjoy!

Good, easy, works, well thought out, but characteristically large in the back
This was easy to install, especially when replacing a stock switch in my house. It has open-hole screw terminals which were really easy to use, and even came with a short segment of white wire in case the box I was in didn't have a free neutral wire but did have a neutral wire nut bundle (which was the case for me). Inclusion worked quite well and the dimmer's dimming frequency is high enough that I don't notice it (which I usually do). My biggest complaint is the same as I have with all of these smart switches: they're /huge/ in the back, which is a problem with tight boxes and/or multiple switches in one box (which two of my three uses of this were).

Great Switch for 4-Way Setup
For years I avoided installing Z-wave automation in 4-way switches because some options required replacing all 3 switches. Having bad luck with Z-wave switches failing I didn't bother going that route but I figured I'd give this a try given the price. Installation was easier than expected. The wiring diagrams were clear and easy to understand, even if you're not an electrician. Pairing with my Abode hub went smoothly, unlike many other 3rd party Z-wave devices, and was connected in seconds. Overall, great product. Hopefully it is reliable and doesn't fail quickly like many other Z-wave smart switches I've used (I will update this review if it does in fact fail).

I assume the supply chain issues, semiconductor shortage drove up z wave prices. This was relatively priced well. I have 14 pot lights in basement. Led, like less than 10 watts each. This works with smartthings. Now I don't need to get my butt off sofa. Only complaint... as I was installing it, turning breaker back on, pots were live but in the lowest dim level... to me they looked off. So I assumed wiring was wrong... wasted like 30 min playing with wires only to realize it was working at the beginning. Held up for a few seconds, and boom, lights were working. Odd.

Bought this to replace an older Zwave switch that was getting flakey and missing on/off commands from the hub. This one has not mis-fired once. Zwave Plus is a worthy investment for those looking for improved reliability and range. Solidly built, works great with my Hubitat hub. The Hubitat Zooz app also supports changing the LED indicator colour. Installation was only mildly tricky, figuring out how the wire terminal clamps work. Very happy overall.

One of my first smart devices was a Zzoz battery operated motion sensor that was awful, so I was kind of turned off of them for years. I wanted this particular style of switch to match an existing one so I figured I'd give them a try again. These switches have been working well since installing them. They are about 100 feet away from my hub, through two exterior walls and still stay connected. Pairing to my Hubitat was pretty simple. The first one didn't work on the first try, so I moved onto the second and it paired immediately. Went back to the first one and it paired immediately too. I figured the first one hadn't had time to find a signal yet. I am now considering trying more Zooz products now.

I gave 4 stars because although I think the product is of quality (and it is regarded a such in the HA community) , I could not install it as my wiring is not compatible with it. rule of thumb for this product: ->If the power comes to the switch box before getting to the fixture, then install this switch. ->if the power comes to the fixture and is then sent to 2 3-way switches, then this product *will not fit*. This switch *requires 4 wires at the box*, which was not my case. So I had to return it (thanks for easy returns!) and order an other product that should support 3 wires switch boxes. My appreciation is that the description is not clear enough (hence 4 stars), and unless you open your boxes and compare with the well redacted documentation before ordering, you might end up with a non compatible product. So buyers beware!
