Is a vegan diet healthier? Should I try going low-carb? Is it always a bad idea to skip a meal? Are superfoods all they're cracked up to be? Is fat still bad for you? Can I eat to improve my chances of conceiving? Science of Nutrition cuts through the noise of conflicting diet advice with clear answers backed up by the very latest research. Recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all when it comes to nutrition, this ground-breaking book has the answers to all your food-related questions, covering every conceivable topic―from gut bacteria to weight management, to heart health and immune support, to vegan diets and intermittent fasting, and everything in between. With an accessible Q&A approach and informative graphics, this nutrition book will debunk popular food myths and diets, redefine nutrition in the modern world, and enable you to make informed decisions that are best suited to you, about what, when, and how to eat. The book's easily digestible and evidence-based advice empowers you to explore the benefits and importance of nutrition, alongside the downright misleading when it comes to the world of food and diet, and to equip yourself with the knowledge and confidence to assess and enhance your approach to nutrition. Review: Clear, Evidence-Based, and Refreshingly Unbiased - The Science of Nutrition is exactly what I’ve been looking for—a fact-based, visually engaging guide that cuts through the noise of trendy diets and conflicting nutrition advice. It’s written in a way that’s both accessible and science-backed, which is a rare (and very welcome) combination these days. What I love most is how the book presents complex information in a clear, digestible format. It breaks down macronutrients, vitamins, metabolism, and food groups with stunning visuals and straightforward explanations. Even topics like gut health, sugar, and intermittent fasting are handled without sensationalism—just honest, research-driven insights. It’s not about pushing one “perfect” diet or demonizing specific foods. Instead, it gives you the tools to make informed, balanced choices based on your body’s needs and personal goals. I’ve already found myself making smarter grocery decisions and feeling less stressed about food in general. Whether you're new to nutrition or just tired of the diet culture rollercoaster, this book is a refreshing, empowering resource. A must-have for anyone who wants to truly understand what they're eating—and why it matters. Review: A Friendly and Helpful Introduction to Nutrition - This work offers a picture-book approach to the complex subject of nutrition. For purposes of introducing the topic, I think the book does an outstanding job. But be advised, this is not a textbook. Nor does it reference scientific studies or scholarly research. The book simply outlines and highlights the basic principles of nutrition without taking a dive deep into the biochemistry. As an introductory book, it was exactly what I wanted. I purchased two very similar books by the same publisher: How Food Works (2017), and The Science of Nutrition by Rhiannon Lambert (2021). Both books seek to explain basic principles of nutrition in a friendly, picture-oriented format. I do appreciate the pictures. When exploring a new and technical subject, graphics help me understand concepts more readily. I use the two nutrition books together. I look up a word in the index (example: triglycerides) and read up what each book says about the subject. I wouldn’t say one book is “better.” I find it beneficial to have two different explanations about a technically complex topic. Sometimes, though, it seems neither book answers all my questions. After reviewing what these books say, I sometimes pose my questions to google, and the AI Overview response has been pretty helpful. I recommend both books, each of which I feel is reasonably priced for their intended purpose. I only wish the books came with a glossary.

Easy to understand, full of information about how your body works (with nutrition)
My doctor recommended this book to me. It's all about how nutrition affects your body and mind, all the way down to the cellular level. I am a "visual learner", so the pictures are great! I can refer to the pictures while reading, making it so much easier to understand. There is a total of 224 pages, if you include the index. I took a picture of the Table of Contents, and a couple random pages, so you can see the topics included, and get a glimpse of the type of information it gives. I hope this book gets you on the road to a happier and healthier person.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
I am a new cooker and lover of knowledge. I know the basics of nutrition such as the different types and calories per gram and things like that and I was curious to see if this would be like your typical college nutrition class book, but thought what the heck, I am getting into cooking its good to refresh and I might learn something new. I was amazed. I love the DK science of books because the graphics are so great and the authors make it feel like you aren't learning, and this book was no exception. It went into topics that I didn't even consider, and they were all super interesting. I highly recommend this book. Pros: -Very interesting -Great graphics -Book seems very durable -Thick pages -Easy to follow along Cons: -You won't want to put it down
