This inexpensive set shows it in lack of quality. Saw dust will not eject from bit, and at least the larger sizes are not true and wobble in the drill making centering the hole, problematic. Save your money.

Nice for the money. Don't expect a $100 set and you'll be fine. I do wish there was a bit more of a taper on the shafts. I got the 17pc set and the extra bits that came with it are much better than the ones that come installed. Those are basic HSS and the extras ones are gold oxide.

Installing hinges should be a simple task but if you've ever done one then you know that the hinge screws must be centered exactly in the middle of the hinge holes or the screw will not sit flush in the beveled hole or worse, pull the hinge slightly out of position. It sounds like it should be a simple thing to do but after installing many hinges I've had my share of misses. All it takes is being off center a 1/16" or having the screw bite into the wood at a very slight angle and you end up with a lousy looking installation. With these self-centering drill bits that becomes a thing of the past as you end up with the perfect pilot hole every time. All you need to do is use the bit that best fits the bevel on the hinge hole and drill a small hole perpendicular to the face of the door and you're guaranteed the perfect fit every time.This "kit" comes with 8 bits which should enable the user to make a pilot hole for just about any hinge I've ever seen. Once nice feature that I wasn't expecting is that the bits can be replaced. There is an Allen set screw on the side of each bit that can be loosened (using the supplied Allen wrench) which allows the bit to be removed. This way if you happen to break a bit or it becomes dull, the tool is still able to be used with another bit of your choosing. My only complaint with this kit is that it did not come with a case of some sort. This is not a big deal and considering the price of the kit I really shouldn't have expected one and I just used the zip lock plastic bag they shipped in to keep them together. Overall I'm quite pleased with this set of bits and would highly recommend it to anyone that does hinge installations even on a semi frequent basis as it will not only speed up the process but insure a perfect installation every time.

I like doing woodworking and around the house DIY projects as well as most of my own vehicle mechanic work. Fixing my own stuff is enjoyable with the right tools at hand. This 8 piece set of self centering drill bits will make the job of mounting cabinet hardware like hinges much easier and more precise. This set has the most often used sizes including: 5/64", 7/64", 2each x 9/64", 11/64", 13/64", 1/4" and 5mm. There is an Allen wrench to allow me to change the drill bit as shown with the pics #4&5. I appreciate that these are standard jobber length drill bits so can replace them if I need to. These are easy to take apart with the set screw Allen wrench. They fit any standard 1/4" Hex driver or drill. Naturally I can sharpen these drills with my Drill D*ctor should that be necessary instead of replacing the bit.There is no depth stop to the sprung sliding silver drill bit collar. I can add a piece of electrical tape around the moving collar to do that so I don't drill too deeply. This allows a precisely centered hole placement which in turn lets me sink the screw head accurately flush. I grabbed an old lock plate just to show the principal. When installing cabinetry for example you can be very accurate in getting everything to line up properly, and then comes the installation of the hinges. Try as you may to get the screws centered in the screw holes it is a challenge to say the least. Even the best center punch is no replacement for one of these. The problem is that if the hole gets started and it is off, even by a little bit, you are going to have an off-angle screw sticking up making the whole project look like it was done by a third grader.I have a small set of these that came packaged with four. This set comes with nine. You can guarantee you are going to have the proper size.The unique thing about this set over my other set is that you can disassemble them, and if necessary, exchange the drill bit for a fresh one that you supply, or put it through a drill bit sharpener.This is a no-frills packaging. The inner pouch is sealed air tight and you can cut it open with a pair of scissors. As far as storage, the outer plastic package which is white on the back and clear on the front has a pretty substantial zip lock feature so it's great for storage, and being able to easily see what is in the package. Overall, a nice set at a nice price.

Over the past few years I've lost some of my self centering bits so I decided to pick up this set to replace the lost bits, glad I did.It comes with 7 different sized bits, you get two of the 9/64's bit for a total of 8 bits.They're sharp and easy to useMakes screwing in hinges easy and keeps them mounted where you want them.Can be used for a lot of different woodworking projects.For the price, quality and number of bits you get in the set, it's a pretty solid deal.

8 bits for under $20...wow, they are well made, they do the job, love emthe purpose of these is simple...when setting hinges, or any item that must be placed in a specific area,u must center the holes u are drilling, or the screws will move the item u are screwingand these bits prevent that, specially when the hole u are going through is bevelled...highly recommended for the diy or light commercial use... if you use them all day, maybe for wear purposes pay for the bigger brand names....

Quality was good. The smallest drill was a little stiff. I like the colour code. It makes it easier to remember which bit to use. The bits look sharp and may last a long time.

This is just Garbage, they don't serve its porpoise, really useless.

Good little set for getting a good hole drilled center of were you want it. Decent quality and lots of sizes.
