Extremely high quality & really fun toy for kids, with a few minor shortcomings in packaging.
So after some time with the Kidzlane Portable MP3 Karaoke machine a 4 year old putting it through it's paces I can safely and assuredly give it 4 stars. As far as it's durability and sound quality it gets 5 stars. The only reason I would not give it a 5 out of 5 is because it does NOT come with a power cord of any kind. While this is not a grand problem because it does not have rechargeable batteries and it can be powered with any micro USB cord (Like Samsung phones or PS4 controllers use) plugged into a powered outlet. However, I can not understand the decision to not include one in the package. The default settings, as many people have mentioned is Blutooth and every time it is turned on it must be cycled to the internal sd card in order to play music every single time. This becomes a bit of an annoyance when your 4 year old is just starting to read and SD and USB are too similar on a digital screen. He has since figured it out but be prepared for your kiddo to require you to assist them many times over until they can figure it out for themselves. Just a friendly tip, do not add low bitrate mp3s to the SD card as they will skip and pop. There is plenty of room for right at 100 songs even if you only add 320kbps songs. Anything below 256 sounds like crap and you will probably be removing it from the SD card soon after. The battery life (4 AA) is surprisingly good. With heavy use they last a good week without any problem. I plan on investing in some rechargeables soon though as this toy gets a ton of use as a mini boom box as well as the sing along feature. The Blu tooth and line in audio work fine although the range on the Blutooth is pretty terrible. It's not likely you are planning to stream music further than 25-30 feet away but inside a house and around a corner you may only get 10-15 feet. The dual microphones work great and are plenty loud... PLENTY LOUD. Keep in mind again, you will be giving a child a portable megaphone that also plays music. Mine has had his taken away more than once for running around and just screaming nonsense as loud as he can. I have put tape over the microphone volume button because he learned how to turn it up all the way. For the cost, I don't think you will find a more rugged and fun toy for you kid, especially if they like to sing. If you thought you hated Elsa and the phrase let it go before, prepare yourself for pure hell. The smile and laughter of my kiddo makes it all worth it though. I must also confess that putting a couple of metal songs (my music of choice) on there and singing into his tiny microphones to amuse him was perhaps just a little bit too fun. Amon Amarth & Behemoth never sounded so good.

Good product for the price
We bought this as a Christmas present for our 3 1/2 year old daughter who loves to sing. She plays with it daily, as does her 5 1/2 year old brother. It has quickly become her favorite toy. Though the sound quality isn't spectacular, it's pretty good for the price. I like that there are a number of ways to play music (including Bluetooth, FM radio, and MP3 on USB). It is easy to pair with my phone and has pretty good range for Bluetooth reception. There are separate volume controls, one for the music/audio output from the various sources and one for the two mics so the kids' singing doesn't have to dominate. The two mics also have individual on/off switches so they don't create feedback when not in use. The controls are very basic, as they should be for a child to operate it, but this also makes it difficult to tune to the desired radio station. If you put a lot of songs on a USB stick, advancing to the desired track (which is only denoted on the screen by a number) could take a while. The mics also only pick up when really close to the sound (i.e. my kids' mouths), which is how kids tend to use it anyway. In all, I'm pleased with the product for the price and love seeing my kids having so much fun singing their own made-up songs or singing along with other songs (note: I REALLY need to get my daughter hooked on something besides "Let It Go"). It also seems like the unit is pretty durable and will hold up to the abuse of a 3 and 5 year old.

Taken daily beatings for over a year now, but still in great condition!
We've had this for over a year now, so I thought it was time to write a review! We got it for our twins' 2nd birthday and chose this mainly because it has two microphones. The music and microphones have separate volume controls, which is awesome! I don't need the whole neighborhood hearing my twins' *beautiful* voices. :)My twins just love it and still use it every single day! We normally listen to children's songs that I put in, but around Christmas, we listen to Christmas music on the radio all day. We have it on the kitchen table during meals and when we're done, they take it along to their playroom. They've learned so many songs with this music player!I always make sure to supervise them though, due to the long microphone cords. When we first got this, I was surprised at how fast the battery level dropped to 2/3 and thought I'd need to change the batteries often. But it keeps on going long after that, so don't be alarmed when you see it drop. It works a good while even after dropping to 1/3.I don't recommend anyone doing this, but my twins basically abuse it... They drop it, drag it by the microphones and don't handle it gently at all... lol But it hasn't cracked and still works perfectly! I love sturdy toys that last!Update 12/20/2021:Wow, we've had this for 4 years now! After all of the dropping and dragging around the house, we did start to have problems with the buttons. We have to push hard for them to work sometimes. But that's the only issue! No external damage! lolAnd now my 1 year old loves it! She brings it over to me whenever she wants to listen to music. Now she's learning all of the wonderful classic children's songs and I'm so happy this music player still works! :)
