Why the crazy prices? These are under $6 each. This is more than double the charge.

Amazon takes ~15% of the sale, plus a monthly fee. That doesn't include any shipping - FBA (fulfilled by Amazon, where Amazon takes care of shipping) is determined by the size of the item, from $2 - $15 per sale. Of course, you need to store your item in an Amazon warehouse, and that's a separate monthly charge based on how much space you're taking up as well as the time of the year (Oct-Dec is $2.50 cubic foot, rest of the year is ~$1) .... but that's not all! The storage rates go up based on how long your product is sitting on their shelves. The longer it sits, the more you pay (since amazon's other fees are based per sale). So no, I don't think the vendors are gouging anyone.

Is this safe to use on dishes?

I would think it could be mixed with water to clean dishes, however you can also use vinegar in your sink and dishwasher to give you a more hygenic clean. I would also say they MUST be rinsed WELL prior to use.
