Terriffic little binding foot
Got this little foot in the mail the other day. It is great and very easy to use. I had read some of the reviews about how hard it was to start the bias tape into it, but it is very easy. I used this foot on my brothers CS6000 sewing machine. It did come with instructions. For those who do not know how to use this foot, here are the easy instructions of how to use it.FIRST, it can only be used with 1/2" SINGLE FOLD BIAS TAPE.Step 1. Cut the end of your bias tape at a 45 degree angle, insert the pointed end of the tape in the first slot on top of the binder. NOT the big slot on the side. Using a seam ripper or a long pin, gently keep pushing the tape through the slot till it peeks out of the end of the binder part, the small end of the cone. HINT, Use the seam ripper underneath the long slit of the binder to help the tape move along. Once you have the tape peeking out of the small cone end of the binder, pull it towards the back of the binder about 1/4". Step 2. NOW attach the foot to your sewing machine. It should just snap on the bottom of the shank. STEP 3. Insert the material you want to bind in the LONG GROOVE on the left side of the cone shaped binder. The bias tape should cover the edge. NOW lower your presser foot. Step 4. ADJUST THE NEEDLE POSITION, so it catches the edge of the bias tape, I usually make the needle a little more closer to the right of the edges of the bias tape. That way i know for sure it will catch both edges of the tape front and back side. Using a normal straight stitch length, I use a 2.5 length on my machine. SEW SLOWLY AT FIRST. STEP 5. Guide the fabric you are binding against the right side of the groove on the cone shaped binder. DO NOT TRY AND GUIDE THE TAPE, it will automatically be in the right position. HINT to go around outside curves. Keep guiding the fabric, manipulation it so it continues to be guided in the slot to the right hand side. SEW SLOWLY AROUND CURVES. This binder works best with light- medium weight fabrics. HEAVY Fabrics are kind of bulky to go through the slot. When coming to the end. IF you are joining it to the beginning, sew off at an angle to the right side. HOPE THIS IS HELPFUL. I have been sewing for over 50 years, and PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT.
