Great Book
I came across the mimic fasting through a podcast by Kevin Rose and looked directly for instructions or recipes for this new fasting technique - in the spirit of my usual do-it-yourself mentality. In general, I think the fasting mimicking diet (FMD) makes sense as a supplement to intermittent fasting (IF), which I do a lot most of the days. Losing weight with FMD is not the goal, but a nice side effect. My primary motivation is the longevity aspects and the latest research behind it. In comes in handy that the increased amount of food during FMD makes fasting more pleasant. Nevertheless, it is important to plan well and having a variety of suitable recipes, otherwise it quickly becomes very bland and the increased amount of food actually becomes kind of a problem (have fun with 750g cauliflower a day ;-)). This mimic fasting recipes book - unlike the original source by Dr. Valter Longo's book - helped with the meal planning. It's got great recipes and, just as important when doing it the first time, some useful best practices for the preparation and implementation of the diet plan. It reads quickly and comfortably and focuses on the most important things. The money is worth it to me because it saves me from having to search for specific recipes and try them out. Especially since strength and patience are often in short supply during a five day fast ;-) If you want to put even fewer effort into it, it is a good idea to try the ready-to-it box by ProLon FMD fasting.

Very helpful
I found this recipe book a lot easier than trying to figure out the macros myself. I like to cook and felt that the recipes were perfect for giving me the sensory experience of cooking a meal. I rarely felt hungry, even on the 800-calorie days.I’m looking forward to trying some of the recipes I didn’t get to when I fake fast next month.

Great DIY Mimicking Diet Guide
Fasting is trending and mimicking diet is a way for a normal person to take part of this. The health benefits (ketosis) are well known and are a motivation to give it a try. There are many guides and programs available, but it is hard to decide which one to pick: Valter Longo has the premium ProLon kit which is costly and produces a lot of packaging waste, but at least you do not have to study wikipedia and google for details. In contrast, do it yourself fasting programs are widely available on amazon but lack flexibility. This book fixes this in an elegant manner; you can choose your fasting mimicking diet recipe from the book with the desired amount of the serving (200, 300 and 400kcal). This helps a lot when preparing for the diet, as you can eat a maximum of 800kcal a day. The best part however is the interactive EXCEL table to easily plan your five-day fasting program in less than 10minutes and it automatically generates a shopping list (you get it when you ask the friendly fasting friends by email). I am very happy and it was definitely worth a try!

Fantastic alternative to dried food in the Prolon fast.
The recipes in this book are fantastic! The first time I did the Prolon fast I used the kit which comes with all the prepared food. I was a little put off by the lack of fresh foods. This book is packed with delicious fresh-food recipes that are also much more filling than the dried soups in the Prolon fast. It definitely takes more time to prepare the meals, but the whole experience was so much easier because I was not craving fresh food for five days. I lost the same amount of weight both times I did the fast (5 pounds each time). My favorite recipes so far are the lentil stew, gazpacho, salad with turmeric chickpeas, and zucchini noodles with avocado sauce.

FMD made easy - this is the book you are looking for!
Anyone who has come across Valter Longo and the fastest mimicking diet (FMD) has probably been searching for a book like this at some point. FMD sounds interesting, but it is difficult to get decent and correct recipes for it. Information on the subject is ambiguous at best (regarding the number of calories, or the proper usage/dose of fruits/sugar - to name just a few things). This book really just puts everything together in the perfect proportions - and provides a great DIY solution for a 5 day FMD-fast, thanks in part to the 35 recipes and really handy excel file the authors provide for calculation and planning. A good (and much cheaper!) alternative to the official PROLON fasting kit. I recommend this book and strongly encourage those interested and/or curious about fasting to purchase it!

Not in American measurements.
Very disappointed when I opened this book to find out that the authors are German, and so the measurements are in grams. This should have been very clearly stated in the description on Amazon, so people are aware of that before they purchase the book. It looks like a pretty nice book, but it's going to be a pain in the ass changing grams to ounces for every recipe.

This is a vegan, calorie restricted diet NOT a fast mimicking diet!!!
They reference Dr. Longo and Prolon throughout, but make no mention of the macro percentages. These are the cornerstone of Dr Longo’s research backed diet. This book is not helpful and I am returning it.

The Fasting Mimicking Diet Do-It-Yourself Plan for Longevity
I saw a report about the new fasting mimicking diet and its promising research by Dr. Valter Longo on TV, but I wasn't sure what I am actually allowed to eat in the end. There is a range of ready-to-it meals by ProLon, which seems good but is probably something for people on a larger budget. This book here explained everything well to me and includes and excellent shopping list - in order to make it as easy as possible if you want to do mimic fasting for the first times with a do-it-yourself approach. In general you eat a lot during the FMD. That is convenient at first sight, but it means that you have to cook a lot and need to do so even when are not feeling like it. At least that was my experience. I can therefore imagine that this is much better with ProLon. However, if you want to cook everything yourself first and are looking for recipes / a whole meal plan (incl. good explanations), you should try this book. My tip: try intermittent fasting (also explained in the book) and you save yourself cooking once a day.

ProLon FMD Diet Do-it-Yourself
"The Longevity Diet by Dr. valter Longo is, as the authors write, an exciting book. Unfortunately, there is too little information available for a do-it-yourself implementation of FMD. So when I googled recipes for the mimicking fasting, I was surprised to find here what I was looking for. gave the whole thing a chance and am very satisfied - also because the authors put a lot of effort into it and even provide an excel list on request that creates automatic calculations and shopping lists. this makes the fasting planning and experience easier for me than i expected. therefore 5 stars for this commitment. recommendation"

Nice but small
Good but not thorough enough. The recipes are interesting and well explained. It says that fruits are not allowed during fmd diet which I do not agree with. Overall ok, but too expensive for what it is.
