Q: what kind of mounting hardware is needed to attach to studs ? what about drywall if no studs ? need to prep for handyman

I used some long and strong lag screws. Similar wood screws would work too. These cabinets are heavy and if you put anything in them they can be a real load. I put screws into every stud as they were spaced 16 inches apart. There is absolutely no way these can be securely mounted without wall studs. Don't trust those plastic drywall inserts with screws in them. If you don't have wall studs buy a cabinet with legs.

Q: Are the shelves tall enough for storing 12 x 12 binders?

storage height inside the buffet about 13.75", inside the hutch is less than 12". Be conscious that wait is an issue as materials are pressed wood/paper and hanging boards thin.

Q: i like the way the top and bottom hutches look together but I cannot find a way to purchase the lower hutch also. Are they different?

I only purchased the top hutch so I have not tried it with any other set up and after looking at it you could just flip and swap left for right and vise versa but I do not think there is a way without drilling additional holes in the center door with a possibility of original holes showing and even if you could pull it off you wouldn't be happy with the end result but if you used the top as is just mounted one up high and other down low it should work but handles would be a little low depending on your mounting height. sorry wish the would list the bottom hutch as an option in ad.

No, you cannot. The vertical dividers are important for the construction
