75 Irish Session Tunes for Anglo Concertina [Coover, Gary] on desertcart.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. 75 Irish Session Tunes for Anglo Concertina Review: A great way for new 30-button Anglo concertina players to build their song library! - This book provides a great library of tunes, complete with traditional notation as well as numbers indicating which buttons to push to make the notes as well as whether to open or close the bellows. The selection of tunes is excellent to build a person's library of tunes typically called at Irish Sessions. Each song indicates at the top of the page which buttons will be involved in the song, and the tablature is clear and standard with other books in that the numbers beneath notes indicates buttons on the left-hand and the numbers above the notes indicate buttons on the right-hand and numbers without lines are for pushing the bellows together while lines above the staff indicate pulling the bellows apart. Between this book and the companion book 2 a person can learn a lot of tunes that will be common at Irish Sessions. Review: Fun and good variety! - Iโm still a beginner so itโs definitely a challenge, but I am loving all the new songs to try. Definitely one to add if youโre looking for some new tunes!

Easy to follow
I started learning concertina with three books in hand, but Gary's was the one that I found easiest and most helpful. The method and markings are easy to follow and as I progressed I found myself wanting more tunes than the beginner's book contained. But I still needed "crib notes" to get any tune flowing. The 75 Irish Session Tunes has the same system of marking the fingering and bellows direction and is in clear print, just like the beginner book. This book is a God send.

Great for Beginner and Intermediate Concertina Players
The advice in the beginning is positively restorative and encouraging for even the most frustrated beginner squeezebox player. Don't lose hope! But this book! The advice equally applies to veteran musicians trying a new instrument.

Whereโs the gypsy book?
Gary I love all your books but Iโm wondering when you are gonna release a gypsy concertina music book!

Excellent intermediate book for concertina players
Excellent intermediate book for concertina players. This book demonstrates when to draw air vs push, and shows easy-to use fingerings for well-known melodies. It's been extremely helpful for me learning. Gary Coover has proven himself a passionate teacher of the concertina!

This book is ideal for beginners (or improvers) on the Anglo Concertina, whether they are totally new to Irish traditional music, or for those who may have dipped their toes into this wonderful music on tin whistle, flute, tenor banjo or any other instrument. The tunes are all the session standards. If you fancy Shaking the Barley a bit, or meeting The Sligo Maid, taking a stroll down to the Sally Gardens or getting acquainted with The Maid Behind the Bar, you will not be disappointed. The tablature is easy to understand even for newcomers to music. And with the tunes being so popular it is very easy to find recorded versions of this material on all the traditional instruments, including the Anglo. With the outstanding suitability of this instrument to the Irish traditional music it is little wonder that concertinas are now being marketed as "The Irish Concertina". Books such as this one will further elevate the instrument to its rightful place in the contemporary scene, just as Barney McKenna did for the tenor banjo and Cathal McConnell did for the flute.
