The Kana shitajiki is very helpful and detailed, it gives the number and order of strokes to write each kana character. It covers both hiragana and katakana. The Japanese character notebook is great in this bundle since you are able to practice writing kana and kanji right away. There are four stories inside the notebook which is really cool, kanji is used in the stories but it has furigana to help readers. Finally the Japanese reader collection "Hikoichi" is awesome. There are four stories and you have option of reading the story in either Japanese with a glossary and references on the bottom of the page, in Japanese without the glossary on the bottom, or in English. Each story is presented in that order and allows the reader to chose the best option. The version with the glossary and references at the bottom is the most helpful since it explains vocabulary and expressions. There is also a vocabulary section at the end of the book which combines all four stories.
