Intruiging, but a a bit of a let down
The latest novella by Laszlo Krasznahorkai is slight, perhaps even thin, but still mysterious and beautiful. Detailing the frenetic escape route of its hero, who is being pursued by anonymous assassins, we are plunged into a psychological and metaphysical chase that seems to echo all the vibrations of our present moment. Included here are beautiful paintings by Max Neumann, and complete with a score by Szilveszter Miklós (accessible by code), the experience is undeniably thrilling. Still, I suspect New Directions is trying to dress up what is basically minor Krasznahorkai into something more with bells and whistles.

Short But Intriguing
The book is quite short, padded out with thick paper, blank pages, and befitting artwork. Each chapter consists of one or two ridiculously long run-on sentences, but it’s very effective at making the intended impression of a raving, paranoid madman. All in all, I liked the book very much, even if I don’t understand the ending.

My new favorite book.
No other book captures the modern experience better. And every chapter has an accompanying song and painting.Simply beautiful.
